Yes but how solid is it? I hope it is for the OP’s sake.

To say the underside is solid confuses given that the car sounded like a nail in the original OP. I have seen some seemingly mint cars look like a sieve underneath when inspected.

How cheap are we talking when bought? Normally an indicator on how good something is condition wise.

I hope you get it where you want it, sounds like you have your work cut out for you.

If it's genuine Scotia White, there shouldn't be any lacquer on it. Might have already had a respray if it does.

Cheers,

Simon.

Agreed but I think more than half the evos in this county have rust issues judging by the amount being broken and sold as rotted out on FB etc. I looked at 6 or 7 cars a few years back and all had issues. I’d hate to be in the market for an evo now! Buyers beware for sure.

I bought it because I can't stand evo 4's obviously!

I've booked it into amd Ltd in awigan they will carry out the following work for me
Full strip down of underneath and underseal,
Subframes powder coated,
Every suspension bush replaced with whiteline bushes,
All hubs and wishbones etc powder coated,
All 4 wheel bearings replaced,
All 4 brembos refurbished,
Drilled and grooved disks, new pads, new stainless hose all round,
Timing belt, tensioners and water pump replaced,

I'm fitting new system with front and rear camera,
Cobra 4138 alarm system,

I'm going to start doing a panel at a time, strip down and paint myself, as and when I have time,

Has anyone bought a good quality outdoor car cover that they would definitely recommend to other people?

I think my engine code is TG? I'll check it out on here somewhere which engine this is

No let's get it right how many people look at a shiny car n think omg that's been look after, to find it's rotten underneath beyond repair I'd rather replace all 4 doors, boot bonnet and work on the quarter than have a shelf you can put your hand through the sills and chasis legs etc no body shop will touch them unless you pay over 6k then they may not be able to find the panels to repair it with, every panel on it is a mess but they are straight and easy enough to swap and work on, it's the chasis that kills cars

The inspector told me it is solid and I'm just taking his word for it, AMD in wigan will verify this for me in a couple of weeks, thanks for the input as well, it has a few issues but I'm sure I will get there in the end, got 4 cars at the min n need to get rid of 2, then I can put it in my garage, battery is dead as well, need to sort that drain out asap

Old and Japanese? You know there's alot of rotters out there.

Makes the genuine solid examples all the more valuable

This, check the crank for end-float, replace bearings if it's not too bad or engine if it's terminal.
People rail against the early engines, but if the end-float is within spec just run the damn thing.

Ross Sport do the Ralliart suspension bush kit.

IMO thats the one to go for, full polybush kits are often too stiff and uncomfortable for road use.
