Ordering a replacement plate WTF???

Just done an order online and suddenly been met with the below, surely they don't need ALL OF THAT?!?!

We know this can be a real pain but we do need to comply with the law. So we do need a copy of 1 of each from the following lists before we can dispatch your order:

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED BY LAW TO BE SHOWN TO US TO OBTAIN LEGAL NUMBER PLATES
Proof of your identity:

Driving licence
Utility, Council Tax or rates bill from the last 6 months
Bank or building society statement from the last 6 months
Passport (doesn't have to be issued in the UK)
National identity card
Bank or building society debit or credit card
Police warrant card
Armed forces identity card
Proof you own the registration number:

Vehicle registration certificate (V5C or V5CNI)
New keeper supplement (V5C/2 or V5C/2NI)
Certificate of entitlement (V750 or V750NI) to the number
Retention document (V778) (not applicable in Northern Ireland)
A renewal reminder for a tax disc or SORN (V11 or V11NI)
Temporary registration certificate (V379 or V379NI)
A number plate authorisation certificate (V948) with an official stamp from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) or Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA)
A letter of authorisation from a fleet operator (including lease or hire company) quoting the document reference number from the registration certificate

I just got an email that looks similar to that list but says one from each list which is doable. Needing one of each would be ridiculous!

It's just one of each really. Proof you are who you say you are, and proof you own the car.

Logical I would have thought, although I'm a little surprised they haven't asked for a proof of address as well.

Get Paypal to refund it. OR contact the sellers and tell them to. Say you don't need the plates any more.

It's not really the end of the world as long as driving licence and V5 is all they need....I just need to remember to do it tonight when I get home, which no doubt I won't

I've had the same before, I never sent all that stuff back but they sent my plates anyway!

I've used A1 Showplates a lot, list no end of sizes, are well priced and quick. Oh and they don't ask for all that information!

have this issue when I get plates from my local motor factors, need my drivers licence and the v5 for the car I want the plates made for

Got a few off ebay recently as they are working out far cheaper than the local motor factors and haven't had to provide any proof of ownership for them, and the plate comes with the printers address etc on them so 100% legal in the eyes on the law
