Following on from a couple of threads recently trying to identify engines, when folks have a minute, can they post up the first two letters/numbers of their engine number and their EVO model, please?

The engine number can be seen on the front left of the engine (when standing at the front of the car) about half way down the block, stamped in to the block - see pic below.

This will be a great help for folks being sold a car with a later engine fitted (or not) as the case may be :D

I'll keep the first post updated :mhihi:

I started a thread a while ago like this and got no help:cry: http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=216708a

From lots of searching this is what I found

evo 4 start with TH/TN/TS/TK/TM/TJ,
evo 5/6 start with XO/XU/XY/XG/XM/KS/CA

evo 8 start with YX

Hope you have more success mate:smthumbup

I think people must be scared to open the bonnet and check incase its not what they thought it was:D
