Disabled evo owners

Are there any other Evo owners on the MLR which are classed as Disabled drivers...?

I get all he usual looks and then some, when parking mine in a disabled spot... I have got abuse from lots of people. Then when they see the badge and me get out, they give it loads of apologies...

Who says you can't be disabled and have the car of your dreams....

It is funny when you see people’s faces when you pull up in an Evo and you can't walk properly when you get out of it...

Hi buddy, my wife is paraplegic and we get people knocking on the windows when we pull up into a parking space marked disabled, stares from afar and mumbled comments from old duffers.

I have even had a ticket for driving down a road where only disabled folk can park.

Ridiculous if you ask me, yet not many apologies for ranting at you when your out of the car.

Jon.

PS You going to the bubble at your end?

Not to sure if I will be at the Bubble as I went in for a Total Hip replacement on Monday and only came out Yesterday at 9pm...

I will be on crutches for 6-8weeks... and at the moment it hurts like hell...

It also means I have now got a Rover 1.4 and the wife has an EVO 6

Yeah my dad got that all the time when he has his evo 6 as he was born with a club foot so has a slight limp when he walks and cant walk long distance.

My mum just use to flash the badge in their face and tell them if they had a problem phone up and complain, lol

yep fully paid up member of the blue badge club...

if your cars are adapted what have you done to them and who did it.

for instance i had work done by Chris Elliot in Peterborogh and the car has a electronic clutch adaption and hand controls.

Nothing altered, as I just could not walk... But had no problem driving a normal car....

Hopefully now I have had both hips replaced I will be OK and be able to walk a lot more.. as soon as I get off these crutches..

I will have to wait and see....

Weird feeling having your hip replaced when you are still awake...

Hey Wheels, could you get any more info on that electronic clutch and your set up. My wife is going to learn to drive this year and any info would be most appretiated.

Waynes the man, i'm sure he'll point you in the right direction Jon - even down to putting the best lines around Donnington and Cadwell Park!

Rich more like how to get in the way of everyone else round cadwell and donny...

Elsmere...

Chris Elliott Adaptions

Basically i have a push/pull hand control...push the bar to brake, pull to accelerate. Clutch is conrolled by a speed depedent electic motor...Once you start the car motor pulls clutch to floor. soon as i touch accelerator i activate a small microswitch behind it which tells the motor to release the clutch to the bite point.from that point on clutch is released dependent on throttle. Lots of throttle= fast clutch release=fast getaway. slow on throttle car creeps away. Once speed reaches 16mph secondary systems cuts in which is a button on the gear knob. press=clutch straight down- release=clutch straight up. when going from 1st/2nd and onwards you do not want a throttle dependent release. If you or the wife want to have a look at the car let me know...perhaps meet at NR autosport. not that far from Chesterfield.

wayne.

My wife, Claire, would love to meet up some time.

Claire is very eager to get going and is looking into all avenues.

Although she doesn't realise that if we goto NR Autosport I'll be leaving with Autronics!
