Map for 95 or octane booster

As the title says, is it better to map for 95 RON fuel or use an octane booster to bring up the rating of teh fuel?

Will be having the car mapped next month (after a very, very disappointing dyno run yesterday)

Being in Ireland we do not have anything close to 98 RON fuel so I'm thinking of requestign the mapper to map the car for 95. Said mapper had suggested using octane booster but I fee that would become a pain in the hole (not to mention expensive).

So which is the better option?

There are no mods on the car at the minute and I have ordered a Walbro ITP116 and have a full 3" exhaust system (currenty std downpipe and cat in the car) and have a spare airbox for the airbox mod.

stick with what you can get hold of fuel wise easily with no additives ,youll only find out youve no booster when you need to most ,hardly worth an engine me thinks

Remember Seeing a car at SVA that was imported for a chap right up North of Scotland (Highlands and Islands) it was being mapped for 95 because of the nearest Shell being at Inverness. Remember Raef saying it mapped fine and still made about 280 At the fly on the rollers. SO I personally would get it mapped for 95 to save the hassle. It will still handle and feel like an Evo to drive.

Dont the knock sensors not retard the ignition if you map to 98 and run 95?

map for 95 and take away the stress, for general road use you not going to "feel " any difference, dyno numbers I've learnt over the years (unless serious track/racing) are just blagging rights. Fill up, drive & enjoy !
