Hi, as an evo x FQ400 owner and a newbie I am reading this forum with great interest, I have just checked my fuses and my fuel pump relay is no. MR588567. This I take it is the original and could be a problem waiting to happen,so far it has been ok and having removed it it looks good and does not make a noise when I shake it, that said would I be best ordering a replacement from indigo-GT ,I see on there website they have a relay no.MR122409 (£12.00) is this the right one, I don't know what colour it is.
My car has only covered 7,500 miles from new which might explain why the relay is still ok.
I am enjoying being a member and love reading all the forums,there is some great information out there . Cheers all.

For the price of it, It would be beneficial just to replace it. They seem to be taking out a revised one every year. I assume because they aren't up to the job either. I've changed mine twice so far. I may change it again this year. Maybe a touch of paranoia but would rather pay £12 for that over £5k+ for an engine.

Thanks michty me, I will order one today,but I have now looked up Ross sport as you mentioned in an earlier post and they have the orange 8627A049 at £17. I think I will get that, cheers.

The cars come in and they are generally driving fine but when we a power run there is nowhere near enough fuel going in.

The AFR should be under approx. 12 youporn.wiki/ xhamster.vip/ redtube.onl/ AFR when on full throttle, but with a faulty relay they barely get under 14 AFR which causes massive temperatures in the engine.

The relays are cheap enough and they can be changed in less than a minute, they are available from your local dealer.

I know this sounds like scaremongering but there is no way you will see the issue without either having a fueling check or an engine failure.

Just incase anyone is interested, if anyone has a mitsubishi garage near them, they can source these for just £11.67 thats inclusive of VAT.

That is not only a saving on the cost of the item on either Indigo GT or RossSport but it also saves you the ridiculous cost of £7.50 delivery on RossSport or £10 delivery on indigo GT

Has anyone, other than me, pulled apart one of the originally supplied fuel pump relays ie the black Omron version?

On the six Xs that I've owned I've religiously swapped them out, and the first time I took apart the relay found it's condition to be pretty poor with quite badly pitted contacts. Just the other day, however, I decided to have a look at the original from my most recent X and actually found the contacts to be in almost perfect condition! The car has done over 40k miles and will most certainly have spent a fair amount of its time being driven enthusiastically and therefore needing to make use of what I understand this relay exists to provide (ie higher voltage to the fuel pump under WOT conditions).

Just thought I'd share this, and would be interested to hear from others what they found when taking the cover off their replaced relays.
