Thank youmlau1294, I am new to the club and very much enjoying it.
You may have read the reply from evomemtalist to my post and it would seem my car has been wrongly numbered on the handbrake, which is the only means of identification, even the certificate you receive from Mitsubishi only has the vin. Number and original number plate. I am fanatical about everything being right with the car and will keep the forum posted about further developments.

Mitsubishi UK will confirm the number build via email, I went through the same due diligence when buying #35 (for obvious reasons). They were extremely helpful actually - well impressed.

Something wrong with your 400 then? The original exhaust is by no means quiet, but yes their are louder exhausts out there, but still i can hear mine coming down the road.

Noooooo, your interpretation of loud is just different to mine.

I like a few riffle shots on pops and the ability to BBQ steak with the flames. I want them to hear it in the next county, not just down the road..

The exhaust on my last X was 110 dB at 3k revs static and shot 6ft flames on overrun..

You sure? lol, if you want something louder Perhaps get a Custom exhaust made to your taste? 110 db isnt exactly road legal.

Yes it was tested at 110db at castle Combe, needles to say i wasn't getting anywhere near the track. I got pulled once for the exhaust and got a warning to change it, i didn't and nothing happened.

The 400 exhaust is a good one, just needs a decat pipe, and pops and bangs mapped in. However I'm reluctant to map the 400 I want to keep it mechanically​ standard, well WRC Developments standard..

Only changes will be suspension and cosmetic.

Anybody running Lightweight Shockproof in the gearbox to remove the crutchie 1 - 3 gears, I believe this is common on these boxes?
Also has anyone tried improving the electronic throttle response, either mapping or piggy back controller, as there is quite a lot of delay on the shutdown of the throttle body, kind of over rev?

Imo the 400 is the ultimate road package for a standard evo, it handles like its on rails and the response is amazing, it looks amazing, and being a manual its very engaging. No problems in the 2 years that i have owned mine.

maybe your suspention was knackerd? Mines still spot on. And i know how a good handling car should handle, ive had various other cars with alot more power with good suspention upgrades ect.

What oil is in the box? I would Deffently stay away with oils that mitsu provide as they are crap "not my words but by a top gearbox specialist", supply your own oils.

The evo x 5 speed manual is the strongest evo manual gearbox their is, mine is super smooth " no crunchy shifts", give opie oils a call they have alot of choices mate .

Thanks matey, I'll get them changed as it's definitely Mitsubishi oils in there I've used shockproof in the Scooby (6 speed box, so much weaker that a 5 speed) mixed with hi-end box oils and 100,000 miles of hard driving with zero issues, synchros are still perfect.

Does anyone have the official FQ-400 upgrade list, I'm interested to know if the engine conrods and pistons were upgraded? Some of the lists say that they were.

FQ400 X rods and pistons are standard.

However the FQ440 X which is an SST version does have upgraded rods and pistons.

As said, pistons and rods are standard, the rods are fine for standard power, the standard pistons are Mahle forged pistons according to Tomei engeneers witch stripped a standard engine when the X first came out.

The 400 has different injector's and turbo, exhaust, intercooler/ piping ect.

ive got all item codes that are on the 400 ,including the bespoke turbo. Pm me if needed.

the 440 has uprated rods, although 3 440s have had rods go.
