Has anyone tried to mount the number plates without screws by using just the double sides adhesive tapes? Would they be secure? The reason I ask it that I want to avoid the hassle of drilling the new plates in case the plastic breaks...
Clean the parts with wax and grease remover then metho or Isopropyl alcohol. Use good quality double sided tape like genuine 3M tape and don't apply it on a cold day. or use a heatgun to warm up everything a bit.
I've always used the stuff Halfords sell, its black with a green plastic film on it that you peel off.
I clean the area that its being stuck to and then run a lighter over it which I find warms the glue up and then push fit the number plate on. Never had one fall off and when I come to take them off I have to pull a fair bit.
Never had a problem with drilling. Just lay the old plates on top of the new ones to mark the holes and use masking tape and a hand drill or slow speed cordless on low torque setting. Better still, a bench drill.
