New in the world of Mitsubishis, I bought an Evo 6 TME in red, was my dream car when it came out, finally managed to buy one. It is 100% standard, and I will keep it this way!
It needs a good service tho, so I am in the hunt for good service parts (filters, oil, spark plugs, timing belt, etc.), to make her good for next spring!
Hello and welcome, congratulations on your purchase you won't b disappointed it's a fantastic car. Just be aware you are gonna get some stick  get some pics up :smthumbup
Thanks guys! I live in central Europe so no big Evo specialist there. I am a mechanic myself so I intend on doing all the work. I will not sell the car so not having the "right stamp" should not make a difference. Plus I take care of my cars very well, probably even more than people making money out of servicing these cars, as I am not rushed by time and a boss
It is a LHD RS-2 as they call it. I am away from home at the moment so I will put pictures in the first message this weekend when I come back!
Again it is hard to get parts here for the car, so any websites (in the UK or else) is welcome! I guess there are lots of bad names in the business, I just don't want to cross their road!
Welcome and congrats. Will be a very rare sight in Europe, super rare in LHD in any event and don't forget, Tommi's car was LHD too! Anyone know how many LHD TME's they made? Can't be a big figure.
Thank you guys. I have updated the first post with a picture of the car (sorry for the quality, my phone is pretty bad). The car is in very good condition, never been damaged, never seen salty road, it is rust free, so that's good!
On the other hand, there are few issues:
- hydraulic lifters tapping noise (cold and hot, intermittent problem but almost permanent)
- PAS noise (level of fluid is at minimum at the moment so probably filling to the top will solve that issue, permanent issue)
- front knocking noise when going over uneven surfaces (I suspect something related to the antiroll bar)
- bit of play in the rear right wheel (probably a bearing)
- engine off but ignition on, I hear the throttle body moving very fast (intermittent problem)
I will investigate these issues as soon as possible, in the meantime I am open to advice or maybe these are common to this car, I don't know?
Oh, and "MajesticRadish" - Jannik on here lives in Stuttgart so not too far away, maybe PM him and see where he gets his parts from, he also has a red TME
I know the subject has been covered a lot, but honestly there are so many different opinions I don't which to follow
Plus I have a got a STANDARD engine, so it must be rare here! I am looking to replace all fuilds, here is what I came up with (car is used 99% on the road, with probably 1 track day a year):
- Engine: 10w50
- Gearbox: 75W90 GL5
- Transfer box: same as gearbox
- Rear diff: same as gearbox (it has got the AYC diff, because the car is a GSR, or RS2 as we call it here)
- AYC: ATF SPIII
- Brake fuild: DOT 4
- Engine coolant: no clue which one to buy
Now in the process of replacing the lash adjusters, timing belt and water pump, full service, and she needs new tyres. Also have few clonking noises and the famous donkey noise, I will take care of that too.
Looking Great :smthumbup .... You enjoy then so much more when you haven't driven them over the winter months..... Ours is also coming out of hibernation in the next couple of weeks :coolsm:
EDIT: just replaced the lash adjusters and now the diesel engine noise has gone. Happy!
