Price range / companies to avoid?

Well, looks like I am going to finally buy an Evo in the next months. Selling my daily driver and will start using train. Keeping the Lotus.

Muscle disease is standing still and recovered very well in the last 12 months, so as long as possible I will enjoy every f.... day

Last and first time (2009/2010) I bought a great Evo 6 from DCY for around 8k. Back then I propably could have bought a modified MLR car for that price but I liked the originality from the car and the great state.

Looks like the prices changed a lot in the last 9!! years.

Evo 5/6 have climbed a lot, they are Evo 7/8 prices now?
Found a couple of cheap 5/6/7 but cannot think otherwise then there must be rust or hidden problems. I will only buy recent or fresh JDM import with UK plate. Should buy before Brexit

Any recommendations what companies to avoid or where to buy with "confidence" ? Will properly examine the car offcourse but with the distance a decent company is much easier to deal with. Offcourse I am hunting for a perfect cheap car like everybody...

Not sure if I go 5/6/7/8. Like the raw 5/6, like the 7 (Interior, ACD) , 8 not prefered looks unless MR but out of budget.

Hi mate.

Where about a are you? Yeah prices have risen a lot over the last few years. I sold my last Evo 6 for 8k around 3 years ago and paid considerably more than that a few months back for my new 6. I got mine through CPP in Cheshire and can not fault the car or the service.

Good luck with the search, exciting times ahead!

Ian

Travelling and roadtrips are fun, so no problem with that. Cannot wait to take the Lotus or Evo to Scotland.

There is a fresh import local here. Silver Evo 7, 104.000 kilometer, 12.3k GBP

Think the price is ok, especially if I calculate the travelling costs. I really need to rush with selling my daily and not comfortable with that, would like a white Evo this time.

Fully agree on this one, tried to sell me a crash damaged TME for non crash damaged money. Didn't sit right from the start.

DCY, Torque GT or HJA I would happily buy from and have bought from including some friends cars which were very good examples. I suppose they are the big players.

I bought something from them many moons ago. Nice people.

Maintenance will be done in house or with a Rally specialist local (Piet van Hoof)

There is an X close by, LHD, white, ticks all the boxes but missed the raw edge from my old love, the 6.

5 with RS diff would be prefferred! Switchable ABS and 1 bar boost. Stock wheels and all Or maybe the 7 that is for sale close to me. Might go and have a look at that next week. I want a fresh import with no underseal. State above version/mileage/colour.

I am missing an extra garage sadly. Evo needs to be stay outside. Not happy with that.

I am going to get my ass kicked for even mentioning this. I am worried to use the Evo as a winter car due to rust. (Evo/Lotus/Motorcycle mostly during summer, but Evo would be winter)
I would do a underside refresh shortly after buying it anyway, no underseal, only cavity wax on all the open areas and make sure to check the underside every year.

Thinking if a STI hatchback with a rebuild 2.5 would not be better rust wise.
