So because of the different specs of the car it is not easy to make "tuning stages". For a 260 you could say 360hp is stage 1 and 400hp is stage 2, while 400hp is just stage 1 for the FQ-360.
Well, you could, but then you could also say that 360 bhp is stage 0 and 400 bhp is stage 1, as a lot of stock cars in the UK leave the showroom with 360 bhp or very close to it.

Unlike mainland Europe, there are very few VIII 260s in the UK compared to FQ cars, so that's why we say stage 1 is the level that most cars hit when fitted with the induction and exhaust mods plus the remap.

Thanks for all the complements. First post updated after I remembered about the leaky dump valves on the VIIs and VIIIs!

Excellent post there mate, well done.

Just my 2 pence worth, but IMO you wouldn't need to go to the extra work of hard wiring the fuel pump if you are sticking at 400, only if you plan to go beyond the stage 1 mods.

Really good thread. Heard lots about stage 1-3 mods but not sure on what they could all be. Any chance you could do the same for an IV-VI. Or is it just similar. Not bothered about 400/400 just info on stage 1 mods. Thx

I was told by my tuner that the air box mod is a good starting point but around 380BHP it starts to struggle and an aftermarket air filter is needed??

Not 1000% how true it is - but he knows tad more than me

Excellent thread mate

Suggestion: how about adding rough prices for some of the products/upgrades you mentioned?

brilliant info this. just what ive been looking for on here as im looking to have this done in the next couple of months. so im guessing my car should in theory make something approaching 400/400. just need to find somebody to do this for me at the right price now. seems like im looking at £2000 give or take (yes/no)???

Plenty of cars running well into the 400 bhp on the stock airbox, whether it's restrictive at that level is not really known, as far as I've seen.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I think putting prices on the thread would mean that it would have to be constantly updated, plus the various brands available for any one mod vary in price considerably. Then you can pick some up secondhand vs new, so I think it's better just to let people do their own research or ask in another forum.

Not sure to be honest, you should probably ask the supplier or your tuner.

Otherwise try posting the question in the engine/turbo forum, as you're likely to get more experienced tuners reading that forum than this thread.

IV-VI aren't massively different when it comes to modifying, if you start with the universal mods and then ask around about the others needed for an Evo VII and whether they're applicable to your car, then I don't think you'll go far wrong.
