It's a evo 5 gsr. Fitted with an evo 6 front bumper.

Hey Buddy,
Nice car and fair play to you taking a massive job
I'm guessing you'll put two new rear chassis legs in and a new crossmember are you also going to strip out the rusted floor pan in boot?

Just waiting on a couple of welders to assess it with me.

Obviously the nicest way would be new chassis rails.

I've read different things about fitting later rails etc so need to do plenty research and see what's available parts wise.

Later rails will fit , just need to change exhaust hanger.

Great you’re saving it, looks a fair chunk of work. Just remember the rot will be in the seams so don’t be shy of cutting, anything’s possible.

Took some big balls to import all way from Japan

Just done a 5 with similar issues. Agreed the later rails fit with slight mod and are easier to get. You Will probably need to do the rear cross member as well. Mitsubishi dealers and Rosssport can normally supply in a week or two.
One of biggest issues was getting rear transmission and other parts out. All well seized so a few sheared bolts.....

Sourced a front 5 bumper a while ago and just got back from paint.

Checked front end whilst bumper off looks nice and solid no corrosion.

I do love the look of the 5 front end.

You'd be better getting the rear chassis legs and crossmember from your local ralliart mitsubishi dealer you'd be surprised what discount you might get a friend of mine did the same thing and Ross Sport were not cheap, its only a phonecall just get all your part numbers 1st i think they cost him about £650 approx from mitsubishi delivered

Solid clean 5s seem to be about the 10k mark atm, I paid 6.5k shipped and taxes paid (correct amount might I add) but did take a while to find

I enjoy the process of bidding at auction and importing from Japan, not sure many people would risk it

As for the work I have a 6 front bumper and a new HKS exhaust to sell which hopefully will pay for the chassis rails I need, I plan on stripping it back myself and then a friend will weld in the new rails.

After considering some very clean used rails from a 789 rear end cut I've decided to go with brand new rails from mitsubishi.

Would anyone be so kind as to advise if I have the correct pt nos.

I have chassis rails
