just wondering if it matters on what coils to use on cop kits
i know you have the yaris ones, but ive came across ones using audi r8 coils, which would be better suited for me as they are shallow which is what i need as yaris are to talll
I'd love to see a back to back comparison on a dyno with oe coils vs yaris and r8 coils
I definitely noticed an improvement in throttle response when I had a yaris set on my 6 but were removed to oe coils when it visited a respected tuner on this forum.
apparently the R35 GTR coils are the one to have as they store the most energy and are still reasonably priced. Making them work with stock ECU (due to different dwell time ) is another matter... but would love to try..
I built 2 cop kits using prius coils and those work fine and fit under OE cover..
Check youtube, American guys tried a lot of different coils on their engine, very good test, cannot find the link now, but I'm sure you can if you try. They tested like 20 coils.
I had a Yaris coil kit and car drove horrible, I upgraded to r35 coils and driveability was night and day diffrent.
Go on you tube and search motive dvd, the did a video with platinum racing testing lots of coils and the only smart better than the r35 coil was aem coils
so that test the audi are better than the yaris ones
which is interesting to know, shame the r35 are tall blocks though which like the yaris are no good for my needs
