Stolen Evo's

Hi Guys,

Due to reading on the forum this morning (10-01-2009) that yet another one of our Evo's has been taken away from it's owner. I wanted to start a thread to see exactly how many Evo's are being taken, what Evo's they are and the area's that they are being stolen from.

A shocking 68 Evo's stolen from MLR members.

If it's of any use, there is a free to register website where you can add your stolen car (regardless of make or model) and there is a chance of someone who's looking to buy an Evo and been offered your stolen car to get in touch with you to let you know that they've seen it. Here is the link http://www.twoc.co.uk/

Sorry if I've come across as angry in this thread, but the theft of people's pride and possessions, and all their efforts to be able to get them in the first place annoys the hell out of me. But my hope was that from adding to the list we could see patterns of which Evo's are being taken and which area's are the biggest risk, maybe suggesting gangs at work.

Regards

Mark

Sorry if we think you are coming across as angry I totally agree with you mate, but the problem starts when you report it to the police, well thats when my problems started, they couldn't give a toss .

I even spotted mine getting driven about three weeks after it was stolen and when I went and told them they siad that I had already been paid out so what was the big deal

I know what I would do if I got hold of the theiving scum, but hay, that would mean I would be in the $h!t!!!!!

So you went and told them where a stolen car was, and they didn't even want the details to check in to, on the off chance it might have been used for drug running, robberies, and eventually being rung and sold on to the innocent!!! Totally not on, the more and more I hear about the lack of efforts from the police the worse I get.

My mate got caught the other day for being two days out on his road tax, he said he saw a police car parked in the middle of the road on Chevrons reading a newspaper, not even watching the road for **** sake. He then must have got picked up on the incar computer by his registration from the camera sitting on the roof; he then put the paper down and went off and chased. I'm not doubting that he shouldn't have been pulled, as road tax evaders should be caught! But when your being paid big bucks, and tieing up resources (car etc...) at least look for others maybe speeding, not wearing seat belts, on the phone etc... Lazy sodding police!!

Regards

Mark

I think this list could be very interesting, good work. Do you have the dates they were stolen so we can see how fast they are being nicked e.g. 10 per month?

Nope to be honest I didn't think to add the dates in, but yet again what a good idea. Also some of the thefts where reported in the thread from this website, however in attempts of getting this thread up and moving I didn't read through all the threads to see the final outcome. However I've no doubt as this thread gets more popular, then name's that I found already on the list will have more details added to it.

there are bound to be more than this from here as when I did search word "stolen" 20 pages popped up, but I only listed the first 10. It would appear that more Evo's are getting stolen than we first thought, yeah we hear about them from time to time, But has anyone actually ever stopped and counted them before like we are attempting to do now.

Regards

Mark

The thing that strikes me is its evo's I-X that are taken they don't just target newer ones.

I for one don't believe the situation will never improve as the law is far too lenient with car thieves, they know what 'punishment' awaits them and its worth the risk. Until that changes we'll just have to try our best to keep them secure. Its a sad state of affairs.

Thanks Stu, that made interesting reading, you actually got it back with very minimal damage, all beit the clutch was smelly!!! I can't believe the cheeky sods came back for a second go!! well there is a positive story to add to balance out all the others, and in your case Police presence and response was bang on.

I take it your still running the same Evo to this day?

Regards

This is a good idea. Sorry to hear so many cars being stolen.

Agree with above that dates of theft would help if it can be added.

its allways sad to hear of anyones car/pride and joy being stollen no matter what make or model, for most people there car is the second most expensive thing they own (after there house) and to hear of it being stolen or vandelised sickens me
i think people have a right to be angre and that the police should show a little more compation and spend more time finding these cars and bringing organised car theft figures down
just my little rant

I'm currently going through them and listing them as we speak a few more to add before uploading....however the 24/06/2008 two were stolen and two more were stolen on the 25/06/2008, maybe indicating a "gone in 60 seconds gangs at work scenario" This is the main pattern I found so far, but in addition to this Black most popular, No Evo 2's and 3's are not coming up as being stolen, There is only 1 Evo 1 and just 1 Evo X the rest are Evo's 4 to 9's

I've got 8 more pages of reading through before I upload all the dates and final outcomes, but it's sure gonna make interesting reading.

Regards

Mark

The clutch was knackered, it slipped after i got it back, the brakes were cooked, and they had bumped into a hedge, though did little damage. The problem was they still had the keys so new lockset, new reciever for the remote locking, and alarm recoded. the police response was good as i was so quick to report it, and at 5 in the morning there are a lot of bored police up for a chase with an evo (coppers words )

I'm still running the same evo

If people are concerned about this i can't believe

clicky

hasn't had more of a response, vehicle tracking and remote immobilisation seems the way forward to me
