Looking for a late holiday in Europe - any recomendations?

Me and the girlfriend have not been on holiday for over two years and we are looking at spending around 10 days on the continent for a short break. Its looking like we will be going around the early to mid part of October. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am looking for somewhere that is nice and warm as I could do with a few days of basically dossing on a beach . Also, I would rather not go somewhere that is full of 'Brits abroad' or Chavs scrapping, copulating or vomiting in the streets. Having said that, hopefully most places will be reasonably quiet in October! I have been looking at Turkey, particularly Olu Deniz, which seems quite nice. We have been to Italy before and really enjoyed it but fear it may be a bit cold in October.

As allways, any help or suggestions much appreciated.

the canary islands are nice, about 4 hours flight, lanzarote is the best and find the resort playa blanca. been there many times, quite and warm all year round. beaches are man made but there are some nice natural ones at papagayo but you need a car to get to them.

Agree Nice resort, plenty of restaurants and bars but fairly quiet, clean beaches & should be nice & warm although it does get dark early as it's on the same latitude as the UK.

Now that depends on when you over Carina.I wouldn't call 9 o'clock in the evening early during the summery months, especially in July, now it's around 7 o'clock.

I have heard many trip reports from friends who went to the Canary Islands and they were not very positive. I would not like to contradict our Spanish friend who expressed a rather positive opinion, but there are better places in Europe... What about Ibiza? I went to Ibiza 2 summers ago and found that you can pretty much do anything there. Whether it be heavy partying, family weekend or relaxing on the beach. I stayed near the Playa d'en Bossa, and it was great. Also, don't forget that there is another island, Formentera, that is great if you want to get away from everything and just hang out on the beach for a day or two. You can also use ibiza airport taxi service for flexibility.

Olu Deniz is nice at that time of year. Don’t leave it to late in October as the nights get cold. It’s a laid back resort with some night life, but that tends to be off the main drag.
Takes 2 mins to get up the bank to the sister resort and about 20mins to Fethiye.
