OK. So I done a hpi which shows up 4 owners since import in 2015, everything else ok on that check. Also done the jap history check which shows up as a grade R. Basically was involved in some sort of front end smash then ran through auction straight after. Obviously not worth what the lads asking but would this put people off in the future if I were to sell on? Plus he won it on one of the competitions a few weeks ago and is selling it on now.

Depends if it was repaired well - it might have been only a small smash?

I’ve struggled before with grade R cars, deffo not worth none R car money that’s for sure, sometimes the seller genuinely doesn’t know, other times thier just lying *****

The advert states it was a Grade 5 import. Does he have the auction sheet to back this up? His sheet should also match the one on your Jap HPI check. Do you know who originally imported the car? There was a time that some importers would bring cars in via Australia to give them a clean auction sheet.

I have been watching the Jap auctions for the last year and on occasions they get it wrong. The car could be genuine. The more information you can get the better informed you will be. It could give you leverage with the dealer. As you have done the UK HPI, you have the registration. Put it up here. People may know the car.

Hi just a few word,s about the GRADE R CARS ESP EVO,I bought a black Evo 6 gsr,41.000 mile,s black in pristine condition, from GAZ at CPP,From the inspection he told me that it was a Grade R,and had another wing,As he could see the fixings were different from existing.I honestly believe that the car is totaly pristine in every way,I know that GAZ and OLLIE weaved there magic on the car.I would not have found a car of this standard and price any where in the UK,Also i was led to believe that the Japanese system of grading the cars is a bit of a lottery,Just my opinion
