evo, idle, rough, enginey 30 miles car was running perfect it had its warm up and cool down as usual but after it had been parked up for about an hour and half. When I came to start it again it was idleing at around 400rpm and dipping almost cutting out! Sounds really rough! And exhaust smells fuel rich.
It has never done this before at all.... all fluids are ok oil, water etc. Plenty of fuel and no obvious leaks.
No error lights on dash either.
Did manage to get back home it didn't cutout or stall it seems like its in limp mode (if it has one?)
Hey all me again ..... I have stripped all the pipes off and checked through there all ok ...... I don't seem to have a maf sensor! Its been replaced by a 2wire air sensor although according to the checks it appears to be working all ok. I checked most of the wiring for it and tried the fault code reader again just in case but still nothing showing up....
Note : throttle etc. Seems ok too .... could it be stepper motor? Idle control valve would these be reasonable suggestions? Or something a little cheaper and simpler?
Plugs look good but changed them anyway, unplugged all injectors and battery in a hope to reset them and the ecu. However I still have the issue ..... trip to a garage I think
i had a similar issue on my 7 but it was so intermitant that every time i changed the gearbox it either fixed its self or started it, i unplugger maf and ran better:wallbang:
I had a similar issue to this on my 6. It was really lumpy on idle and wouldn't hold the revs and would eventually stall. It turned out to be a faulty idle control valve.
Hi again right throttle body idle valve air system all cleaned out, its also been to two garages but neither could find more than it seems to be over fueling and leaving loads of black deposits on the plugs like its burning too rich...... it has an anti lag system could this have something to do with it?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!!If all else fails I'll have to take it to the dealer or a specialist performance tuning place.
Have you checked the engine temperature sender? It could be faulty making the ECU think it's -40c and fuellng for a cold start.
With it running, give the loom at the ECU some movement and see if anything changes. The ECU could be missing a signal due to a connector pin problem. Is there any signs of water or moisture ingress in the ECU?
im having sort of the same problem mine drives fine but when idleing starts to drop and cut out put a new maf on but still same problem going to clean the idle control valve nad throttle valve see if that works
I had the same problem and i tried everything to figure it out, compretion test leads plugs allsorts but it turned out to be a intercooler pipe blown of lool,
Hey all been a while since an update but I have taken the car to 4 diff. Garages now and all just scratch heads between them practically every sensor has been tested and eliminated as a problem. Now moving to potential issue with the ecu ..... I have plugged it in but its password locked and I have no password so moving my issue to the ecu forum section will update here once issue is resolved in case anyone else gets the same problem.
Thank you all very much for all your help so far
