No haven't tried that but I have probably 1 persons weight of tools etc in boot. Also have heavy springs so probably the real proof will be on track giving it some!

Just test fitted the AD08R 245/45/17 on my Evo 7 and they fit fine. They are on Evo 8 Enkies and suspension is lowered. There is less clearance of course but enough to avoid rubbing on standard...

I guess there are other "ground" connections from engine to chassis possible through pipework etc but I certainly improved battery charge voltage regulation when I cleaned mine up.

Another thought for OP is that strange electrical faults can easily be bad earths and/or corroded connectors around the wiring loom. New cables are less likely needed than simply un-bolting ground...
