Have owned an E93 M3 and an X FQ-300 tuned up to around 360 bhp, so not quite the same league, but maybe close enough for a comparison?

In my experience they are very different cars and you need...

I imagine it happens...

It's very likely that the car is either a JDM IX GSR, which was the base for all the IX FQ cars, or a IX FQ car, so essentially it's now the same as an FQ-360. Same underlying car, same upgrade mods,...

The compressor size is denoted in the turbo model number immediately before the "G".

50 motorway miles isn't going to do it! In fact, I think that once you've bedded them in the first time, they will probably need bedding in again after long motorway (say 200 miles) journeys.

The...

As above, have you bedded them in properly?

You need to get them baking hot - several 100 mph to 0 mph stops at full braking power (on a private road, obviously). :smthumbup

Hmmm, that doesn't sound right - one of the main selling points of Evos is that they feel dramatic under acceleration?

Get a boost gauge fitted and see what boost it's running on peak (as the...

True, but in MLR terminology that's called a "rod job", not a forged engine.

Do they? Maybe 10 years ago?

I thought tuning and the limits of the engines were known well enough now that piston...

Next option would be to see if...

Unlikely, in my experience.

Standard Evo 8 FQ cams are good up to about 385 bhp with supporting mods, but I don't think anyone has ever reached 400 bhp on them.

My old Evo 8 FQ-330 needed cams...
