I haven't got the diagrams in front of me at the moment, but if you haven't got 12v to the pump on the thicker wire then you have a blown main ACD fuse under the bonnet or a bad connection / damaged...

Best thing is to work logically through the circuit, I'd start at the lamp terminal to see if you have power there.

It'll be difficult to get the right intensity as LED tech has moved on a lot.

If you don't mind bright spots, then they are not too bad to replace, just make sure you have a fine-tipped soldering...

You should be getting around 0.05A (50mA) on a standard car and still under 0.1A (100mA) with a few extra alarms etc.

With the meter on and the bonnet...

I had a cam sensor fault where the EML would come on and then if stopped it would struggle to start.

I put a spurious sensor in and it actually made it worse. Put a genuine one in and it sorted it...

Get the lock mechanism and cable greased / checked before it wears out.

It's a bit of a nightmare to open when the cable is snapped.
