not yet tried it but i cant budge my tensioner with a 1/2 " ratchet in the hole is it possible to get it off and soak it in wd to get it working again so i can get a bearing sorted or is it a case of new complete tensioner
stu yer putting the square end in and just wont budge, the belt is tight it just makes that horrid noise when cold as described in the other thread i pasted on this 1 so thought id change the bearing or get it off so can check it, is there any other way of getting it off ie by taking the belt off somewhere else to get the tensioner off to free it up
no i aint mate to be honest just a bit frightened of breaking the casting as it just wont move at all, thinking of taking belt off by either removing another pully and then undoing the tensioner at mo
you could just remove the whole assembly and free it up just undo the two bolts the main bolt 13mm iirc and the other shorter one to the right on this pic
I have done the bearing change as per the link in the first post on my evo7 when it started making a noise, simple fix, think the bearing only cost a about £3 from a local bearing supplier.
can only find 1 12mm bolt that holds it on which is the one above the oil filter and just goes tight and feels like it gonna ring off so il try it again when engine run a bit to get a bit of heat in it, cant find any other bolt other than the 14mm one that goes through centre of bearing can some 1 show me where exactly the bolts are pleeeeease
ahhh sorry didnt read it right will have a go tomoz as getting dark now and soaked it in wd will get a bearing tomorro as got got the number off that other thread
so i changed the bearing myself (and it was ********ed when I took it out) but I still have an annoying squeek/rattle at low revs but only when the cars WARM... any ideas guys?
was just wondering if anyone knows how to separate the two parts of the aux tensioner to access the spring? the range of movement on mine doesn't return back to the necessary position removing alan keys from two key holes...it doesn't spring all the way back so think there may be some corrosion preventing it happening so wanted to open it up to clean/replace whatever.
Anyone know how to get it open/done this before? All the other threads seem to focus on the pully bearing and that seems ok on mine.
