Hi guys looking at competitive racing where do I start and where to go sort of things can anyone out here put me in the right direction as I ain't got a clue where to start iam Edinburgh based but prepared to travel with car on the trailer knowledge wise zero lol [emoji23] on civvy street but have previous advance technical driving whilst serving in the infantry so I would like to try and put my hand to my hobby once the car is finally built and ready to race
I’m going to see if I can do harewood hill next year, I know you need an MSA license and you will need FIA approved helmet, gloves and suit. Plus you will have to follow from a list for which group you fall into depending on exterior and interior body mods.

i scrutineer a few sprints and hills a year ,my best advise starting out is especially sprinting ,drive ANYTHING your dailys best ,make sure you kits right first, then gain experience about what does what and what goes where and when, driving something you knows going to get you to and from with no need for a tow vehicle and trailer ,rather than messing around worrying about your car
daft as it seems my pal whos also a scrutt sprinted his old audi quattro last year ,in the rain on god knows what rubber he had a riot all day and set the fastest , 0 to 64 feet time ,that day in his daily
racing is another thing all together best bet is find some one you know and go and help them youll learn loads
Thanks lads that's gave me a starting point will have to check out what class I will be in as it's healthy modifications to the engine and tag along with someone to see what's what and get a better idea what's needed [emoji106][emoji106]
Plenty of sprints and hill climbs in Scotland. Kames is a good starter sprint track in East Ayrshire and Forrestburn hillclimb nearer yourself (between Edinburgh and Glasgow) is a belter of a track.
Easy to get started, as above all you need is a national b licence (just applied by post), basic safety kit for yourself (FIA approved suit, helmet and gloves) plus some minor mods to the car (timing strut, stickers, tow hooks).
Get yourself over to Knockhill, do a trackday or two and find out what's available in competition terms. This summer I was involved in the SLS series and it was very well run, competitive and really good fun. But there are also door to door racing opportunities.
Quote; Thanks Stevie How’s the car doing any new mods to it
Hi Gaz I did quite a few mods over last winter, sequential box, e throttle, bigger brakes, different springs etc, not had it out much this year to get everything working together properly, almost there now tho
Also I am entering the uk time attack series next year
