LT Fuel Pump question

My LT has refused to start, Its always been totally reliable in past, I've got a spark at HT leads, I've got injectors operating so fuel seemed favourite.

As suspected fuel pump is not running at all, totally silent.

I've used the pump check connection on the bulkhead, shorting the pins should run the pump ( it bypasses the relay) but it doesn't run. I've got 12v + at the pump connector itself when using the short, also I measure 12v on both sides of test connector when cranking so 12v must be reaching the pump from relay when turning over.

I'm now about to remove pump but wondered if somebody could tell me what the small black component wired in line and attached to the pump bracket, it's made by TDK. I've not seen anything similar looking at pictures of other fuel pump set ups, just LT and Stations.

On the photo linked above it's the small black cube behind the mounting at the bottom of the pump.

Is it some kind of voltage regulator and might this be the problem. I'm reading open circuit across the pump connection pins which seems odd to me.

Finally if the pump does turn out to be duff, can anybody suggest a replacement that supplies same flow rate and pressures, also have people continued to use whatever this small component is in the circuit ?

Cheers - Paul

Sorry to hear of you problem Paul. These pumps seem to fail after a good while as something seems to corrode internally. You might get lucky by immersing it in WD40 or similar for a day or so, but it is a long shot.

I too think the TDK bit is a suppressor - but no proof....

I used a Bosch Competition pump in my car and it works fine - and looks identical

Good luck
