Hi , just re-joined again after purchasing an Evo 5...couldnt resist !
Needs a little TLC and was about to change steering wheel at DTweeks, but no bosses fitted as needs a recess in it ,trying to get a suitable one on order ?
Anybody have any experience on this ?
Cheers
Help. Seems can't get hold of one. Does anyone know where i can get correct boss ??
Cheers..sorry for being naive but when wheel is off there is a plastic circular thing with a yellow striker going around it and at the bottom a black plastic square terminal which sticks out for the wires ...does this come off before i put wheel on ?
Thanks
I think you are referring to the clock spring, it provides the electrical connection for the horn / airbag etc.
The boss I used was a "Splash" boss which is a rebranded "Works Bell" boss. It comes with the correct wiring mod to keep the airbag light off and fits with the clock spring in place.
I got mine imported from Japan years ago but the link that Owen posted above is for the UK agent for Works Bell. Yes they are compatible with all 6 bolts steering wheels like Omp, Momo etc.
Thanks for your help . Will ask the question.
Does the clock spring have to be removed ? Have been told fitting the wrong boss can have an effect on AYC ?
Sorry for all questions just might attempt it myself !
Thanks Baz appreciate your help .
Just one more ..lol, did the clock spring have the largeish plastic square bit sticking out at the bottom for the boss to have a recess to fit properly ... just making sure !
Thanks again .
Hi Baz...ordered one...so see if it fits. Will attempt to fit myself ..lol.
The picture on that thread looks to have the "jutting out" plastic bit but difficult to tell ?
Am presuming yours is a 6 ? This 5 GSR seems to have its own rules !
thanks again.
Yes mine is a 6 GSR. Disconnect the battery then stick the kettle on and have a cuppa! Leave it 20 mins then remove the airbag. If i recall correctly it's held on by 2 Torx screws accessible from behind the wheel. With the airbag out the way, slacken off the large centre nut which holds the wheel on. Don't take the but off altogether. Leave it on but slack and then give the wheel a good old Yank to pull it off the splines. (if you take the nut off fully then Yank the wheel you may end up with a broken nose)
