Hi there,

After a few months searching around the net for a solid Evo, I finally found this VII GSR in Palma Red with only 66,500 miles on the clock. The first jobs for me to get done will be a full service and all fluids with Dave at Henstead Motors... After that I shall probably focus on the look of the car, I'm not sure which way I'll go with it yet but the mirror tints are definitely on borrowed time [emoji6]

The tints had been fitted while it was still in Japan, they just don't really do it for me tbh - As for the bonnet I think a standard one would be a better fit, but it is starting to grow on me ;)

It needs some paintwork doing, but thankfully no rot so just minor stuff really

So true Oli, I'd already noticed that... I've had it for around 3 weeks now and I've only used it when it's been dry (It's not my daily), it's also in my garage but like you say it fades so fast - I've polished it twice using Auto Finesse polish, it looks fantastic for about 5 to 6 days then the fading appears.

I may get it completely sprayed and lacquered, or possibly wrapped - I'm assuming the Palma Red wasn't lacquered which is why this happens.

My first Mitsubishi was a 1983 Lancer EX Turbo in White, it never faded and always had a good shine!

Today I had a full service including all fluids changed done by Dave at Henstead Motors, it's been over 25 years since I last took a Mitsubishi here to be serviced - But Dave is still as passionate about these cars as ever, and done a fantastic job on my Evo... It feels and sounds like a different car already!

It was nice to see that he still has an old Evo III in the corner of the workshop, along with a Mk 1 Escort and a Delta Integrale! :smthumbup

It's been a few weeks since getting anything done due to bad weather and too many hours at work, but today I received my Cusco rear strut brace from RossSport - So out comes the toolbox and just over an hour later it's all fitted, a straight forward job to be honest - the trickiest bit was cutting the trim in the correct place, as you only get one attempt I did take my time :)

So, after thinking about which way to go with the look of the car... I've decided to get it vinyl wrapped - the mirror tinted rear windows are being changed to a dark tint, the brake calipers powder coated and all the faded exterior plastics are being painted, I also purchased an Evo 9 rear bumper and some black badges... Bits of the interior will also be getting wrapped just to freshen it up, and all the lights will be getting a slight tint.

I should be getting it back next week, so I'll post up some more pics once it's completed. :smthumbup

Well, it's finally done - After me being in SE Asia for 5 weeks, I was happy to be back so I could get my Evo finished!

The guys at Auto Vision in Lowestoft had the car for a week before I went away, and then for another week after I came back - They've totally transformed my VII GSR, it's had a full body wrap in 3M cinder spark red metallic with the roof in gloss black, rear windows tinted, exterior lights smoked, brake calipers refurbished, Evo 9 rear bumper conversion, exterior body trims + door handles + grilles + mirrors all painted gloss black, interior wrapped gloss black and LED bulbs fitted... I can't thank Danny and Darren enough for all their hard work!

Not been up to much lately, apart from driving the car and enjoying the sunshine... But I did receive my Hyper Zero 1 alloys and Leggdura racing nuts from SumoPower, I was going to go for black but luckily for me Michelle offered me a good deal on the bronze as they were in stock - Initially I was just going to powder coat them black, but thought I'd put them on just to see how they looked.

I'm pretty happy with the way it looks now - But I may change the colour... The fitment is good on the front, but the rear is touching slightly so I'll be raising the suspension 10mm or so. The only other issue is the centre caps won't fit over the hub nuts, I'll probably source some deeper ones later just to tidy it up.

Ok, so I ended up raising it by 3mm on the rear - Then I rolled the rear arches to accommodate the extra rubber... Once this was complete I had a 4 wheel alignment done, the right front and the left rear did need a slight adjustment... The car now handles like a dream!

But I just had to get the wheels powder coated Black, I also found some centre caps on eBay to tidy it up :)

Thank you

nice too see the later bumper going on a 7 :smthumbup
im in the process of doing mine..bit un-sure about painting the lower part of rear bumper....have you the paint code of the lower bumper bit....
Yeah the 9 bumper looks so much better imo, the guys that did the paintwork used a standard non metallic gloss black - All the plastic trims, rear wing, door handles and lower bumper have been painted in it... I felt it'd break the rear end up a bit, I guess it's just a personal preference thing :smthumbup

Lovely looking car.

Have you got a link to those centre caps please? I have the same wheels and the same issue with no caps, yours look really good
Cheers Dan - Yeah sure, these were the only ones I could find at the time... I had to get the center pieces separately, I got an alloy style and a gloss black set - I got both as I wasn't sure which ones I'd use :smthumbup

I've not been up to much with the car over the winter months, but I've got a couple of bits recently - First up is a Cusco heat shield which I purchased from an MLR member, I have been waiting for a new manifold but that's another story... In the meantime this will tidy the engine bay up no end.

The second thing I done today was to fit a titanium COP kit that I'd ordered from JD Customs in the US, I had no issues with how the car was running - But I really like the idea of having one coil per cylinder, plus it looks amazing in my opinion.

After replacing the 10amp fuse with a 15amp one as per the instructions, I took it out for a spin. The idle was definitely smoother, and the throttle seemed more responsive - All in all a decent bit of kit.

The chrome centre caps just had to go, but instead of painting them and watching it flake off in a few weeks I got them vinyl wrapped... The guys @ AutoVision then made the Mitsubishi diamonds with the 3M wrap that's on my car. The results are amazing, I know it's only a little detail but it's made a huge difference in my opinion.

As we had some nice weather I decided to give my wiper arms a freshen up, they were pretty faded and didn't look too good compared to the rest of the car.

Once I'd got everything rubbed down I gave them 3 coats of paint, drying time was good as it was such a hot day - I'm happy how they turned out, and it only cost about a tenner!
