I've just come across these old videos. A reminder of how good TA can be.

And the best ever TA video:

So, are there any Evos to challenge the Gobstopper 2 this year? Is anyone building anything special?

Some people think the CPR cars were owned by CPR themselves, but james N and Bob Moore own them. The Orange one of Bobs came to Snetterton last year and set the FTD in qualifying without even trying, but the clutch failed in the final. I'm sure the orange one will pop up now and again in the future. Not sure what James is doing though.

I booked one a few years ago but had to pull out as my gearbox broke. That's when it was £220 to enter and at the time I had some R888s that I thought I was allowed to use..don't think I could have though as they had no TA stamp on them.

If I enter it's 350 for the day, £700 in tyres, a few hundred on vpower and race fuel, hotel, hiring of a car transporter etc. £1500 before you know it and even then the OHWs wouldn't count so I don't see the point. What's worse is in warm up you just need a few laps cruising round, if that, similar in practice, and a bit quicker in "qualifying"...that's qualifying where you don't need to go flat out OR even qualify, as everyone gets into the final...based on last year anyway. So basically you do a few brisk laps, try to save your car, and then at about 5pm, you go for it in the final. Too much waiting around for me and too much "saving your car for later".

As you say, I'd rather do a trackday than be a OHW to be honest. Not putting a downer on TA as I like watching the extreme cars and mingling in the pits etc. I can be a good day out, especially at Brands with the gokarts.

If I did enter I would enter whatever class allows decent tyres, certainly not the ditchfinder class, and only if those tyres were available for hire on the day. I also wouldn't pay more than the old price, £350 is far too much for little old me, and there would have to be equal rights to a podium place for me to even consider it. Not that plastic trophies entice me but if you are exempt from winning I don't see the point in entering. None of that will happen so no, I wont be entering TA. I'll leave that for the rich boys as I suspect sprinting is much more fun (for me) and you don't have to break the bank to enter a round.

They are great vids of how TA should be
I do wonder if they put the pro & extreme cars on slicks if it will be as entertaining for spectators. Doubt even Olly will be able to get the car as loose on them!
But laptimes will be better if they can get the cars to hold together!
