Evo 5 map on evo 6 ecu

Hi there, looking to prove/disprove a thought,

I’ve been trying to get my AC working on my evo 6 lately and I have noticed that the condenser fan does not turn on when the ac turns on. When I’m sitting still the ac gets warm but as soon as I start driving it starts to cool from the air moving through the rad.
I’ve done all the checks for the fan, checked all power and ohms ratings at the relays and the fan works when I jump from the ac relay box.
With everything I’ve looked at the only thing I can think of is the ecu is not sending the signal to the ac relay box to turn on the high low relays.

Now, this is where I’m asking the question, I had my car remapped last year and I noticed that the put an evo 5 flash base map on the car and tuned that, presumably to give a good base and reduce tuning time.
Is there any difference between the evo 5 base map and evo 6 base map that would maybe cause this?
My car is a 1999 evo 6 gsr with full auto ac.

Anybody experience this or know anything that could help?
As always, thanks for any help!

The V has a different pinout: https://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=142077

Where at the VI pins 32 and 34 are used for AC fan low and high speed, at the V pin 20 is used for fan high speed so its a different setup and might be controlled differently in the ROM (controlling different pin).

You might need to swap wires or send me your rom and I will copy your tables over to a 6 GSR ROM. Do you have an openport 2.0 cable?

That makes perfect sense! I do indeed have an openport cable. Is it literally just a case of copying each group of tables from the tuned map to the evo 6 rom? I have my factory rom too from before the tune, would it be ok to swap my rom just to see if the fan works before I start to swap the data?

So an update on this, A couple of things;
First thing I done was I copied each table from my TUNERs ROM to my Stock ROM Back-up, I copied it line for line.

I then test wrote it to my ECU and it was ok, I then wrote it to my ECU and it wrote fine. However the car would not Start. It would turn over but it doesnt seem to be getting fuel and the IACV doesnt click. I figured that i done something wrong

Flash my tuners ROM back on and all is good again. But no condensor fan.

Then rjwkerkhof was kind enough to copy the tables over to my factory ROM too, When i load this, its exactly the same as when I copied the tables over, car turns but wont start.

So I contacted my tuner and told him the situation and he asked me to send my stock ROM over and he would port the files. So I done this,
This time, the test write works fine but when i go to actually write it, I get an error at 43% and all my relays start clicking and fans run. I then reflashed my Tuner rom and all is good.
My tuner doesnt know what the cause of it is. They are vrey reputable tuners over here but this is the first evo 6 they have had. The US and Canada only received the Evo 8 onwards.

My car is a JDM 1999 Lancer Evo 6 GSR. It has no immobilizer or alarms to mess with it.

Has anyone any ideas?

One thing also is that the Stock rom will go back on the car and run fine and the Fan does work when I do this. The stock rom is also labelled as an EVO 6 RS. Not sur eif that makes a difference.

Thanks for any help.

The not able to write problem and stopping at 43% is due to the wrong Memmodel the stock XML for the RS rom has the FA model defined where you need to have the F model defined. That is a quick fix. I also have had issues where I modified my stock RS rom, flashed it to the ECU and wont start. When I took the Ceddyrom it worked straight away.

Can someone shine a light on this issue, why would a adjusted stock downloaded ROM be able to flash to the ecu but afterwards the car won't start?

So to give some closure on this for anyone else who has something similar. A big thank you to rjkerkhof for this,

in the end the Condenser fan not working was due to the EVO5 rom being used, once the EVO 6 rom was flashed back the AC worked again.
In relation to the rom making the car not start, I had to edit the XML file in my EVOSCAN folder with an XML editor and remove the A from the FA in the rom data line.
Once I done that the car started fine and the AC worked.

Hopefully this helps someone else.

I had a potentially related issue on my VI when I had an Autronic ECU fitted. It seems weird, but some cars, and this might depend on model year (possibly just an Evo V versus Evo VI build difference?), have the ac compressor and fuel pump ECU pins swapped over. This was certainly the case with my cat versus the aftermarket ECU, which was configured for the reverse... The car still ran, because the fuel pump remains "live", but it meant that there was probably a fuel pump "power interrupt" when the ECU placed a demand on the ac compressor. To fix the issue, we swapped over the pins on the car loom (outputs can't be configured in the Autronic software).
