Morning all, after reading so many threads on here about the so called 'MAX' power a standard evo 5 6 7 8 9 bottom end (ie crank, rods, pistons etc) can take and all the aguments that go with it, i thought i would ask the questions:

Who is running the max bhp/torque on a stock blocked evo?

1. Max bhp/torque figure with dyno graph
2. How long has it been running that power and how many miles?
3. Whats it's main use? (track car or road car)
4. Who mapped the car?
5. Engine spec? (include what evo standard block it is)

There we go guys get posting :smthumbup
Could make some interesting reading

My specs to start the ball rolling:
1. 474.2bhp 415lbft see my car for graph
2. Been running that power for 8 months and 7000miles
3. Mainly a road car with a couple track days a year
4. enginetuner.co.uk
5. Stock blocked evo IX with TT S205 turbo (@1.7bar) running 50/50 water/meth injection (see my car for full spec)

Kind regards Andy

will be following this with intrest :) i guess its the same with all the forums for the various marques of cars but (i've moved over from a tuned 94' wrx, totally standard block/heads etc....don't shoot !!) there are always people saying oohhh no,no more than xxx amount bhp on stock engine/gearbox.
people were saying your pushing your luck with 330ish on an early wrx engine with even less on the stock gearbox !!! i got mine upto 382hp/361lbft and didn't ever have an ounce of bother :) and not over 420ish hp on a newage sti
i remember a post from a lad with an sti 8 who had a 100% e85 map on stock engine with bolt ons etc. and it made 550/500. don't know how long it lasted but he said it was awesome.
sorry for going on about subaru's but i don't post a great deal on here and its intresting for me to see peoples results before i get mine mapped :)

5.stock evo 8block,apr headstuds,hks 272 cams,greddy cam gears,garrett gt30 turbo,tial wastegate,fullrace exhaust manifold,stock ecu,greddy profec spec b boost controller.
everything was fine.then i decided i needed some more horses and forged it.have 545bhp/560Nm now.the car was mapped by another mapper.

Yes, standard internals.

I don't have a dyno plot, but I get 360HP to the wheels on my Gtech. This is about 470 at the fly. When I boost the car at 1 bar (AVCR mode Off) I get 250 HP at the wheels.

The car has exhaust, decat, full race tubular manifold, walbro, spark plugs, spark plug ingnition wires, 1000 c.c inyectors, Power FC D-Jetro (working with de the AVCR boost sensor), Apexi AVCR, PlX 500 (AFR, EGT), ...

A lot of guys in the USA do this. The key is not to get a massive peak torque at 4000-5000 and keep the standard rpm limit.

My specs to add to the list:
1. 447.4 bhp 397 lb/ft
2. Been running that power since November 2008 and covered 16,000 miles
3. 100% a road car with a couple of road races, 0-150's and top speed runs :naughty:
4. Enginetuner.co.uk
5. Stock blocked Evo IX with TT S209 turbo (@1.8bar)

I'm also still running the standard Mitsubishi Clutch to throw into the mix. :mhihi:

Here is my graph, note the fast spool. :smthumbup

Another win for EngineTuner and the fine range of S line turbos from Turbo Technics... I boost zero problems except a replacement battery in 22 months. :smthumbup

Give them a call and tell them I sent you for the best price on S Range turbo's. The Numbers below. :coolsm:

Less than around 405 lb-ft. Safe motor.

I've been saying this for years. Actually the engine is safer making 400lbs at 7000rpm than 4000 IMO.

I'm quite tempted to whack an 80 series on my stock engined VI and get it maxed out, say 2.2 bar peak (read a thread by Russ at Performance HQ about them working well at that level) should make near enough 450/450 with my HKS 272's, Greddy intercooler etc. Got an Excedy twinplate in so clutch is no issue. But will my engine stand a 50bhp/50lb increase from what it's at now?
450/400 would be safe. 450/450 would be pushing it. And if driven correctly 450/400 would be just as fast.

this cetainly crosses the boundaries of what tuners say - but then they still have to give some sort of warranty on their work hence the reluctance to push the limits on a standard block
