What is te max safe boost a standard 9 fq 320 can run before a 3 port solanoid / stand alone boost controller is needed & what do they run standard?

They run an airflow target, not a target boost, but I don't have the map in front of me to say what it is.

I had a look at a car that had awful compressor surge yesterday, it was a 9 FQ320 with airbox mod and Forge DV (although it did it before these too), decat and Walbro with an Ecutek map. Even at 1.6 bar it would surge, and there is no significant boost leak apart from at the throttle body shaft seals. Anyway, the point is that at 68% duty cycle on both solenoids with the restrictors still it it would run about 1.9 bar boost. I think the original tuner must have modified the P-jet restrictor. Apart from the surge it worked well if the turbo didn't surge, which seems a foible of this individual car/turbo.

Could still run a stand alone ebc john .. & control boost that way so what would be the max safe boost on a stock engine & turbo?

For 99 RON in winter, running with a full exhaust I would peak just over and then hold 1.8 bar.
