I dunno why anyone would want one of these tbh!

When I had my Esprit is was seen as the 'poor mans Ferrari' but a 3000GT... got to be the poor mans MR2 or something, innit! :D

I was in a friend's of mine a couple of weeks ago and it didn't feel slow ! That was around 360 BHP and 360 lbs-ft. It felt definetely quicker than a standard evo ! :o

I had a 3000Gt : tuned to 360 BHP : it was simply wicked !

so wicked in fact it ate its own transfer box costing 6k to replace.

apart from that it was probably the smoothest "nicest" car I've had, and to be honest I'd have another if the gearbox/transfer box issues were sorted . Also at the time ( 1993) they were rare and looked good !

What type of bhp and torque does the standard ones push out then guys?

26-02-2003, 07:42
Jap spec were (surprise surprise) 276bhp, UK cars had more like 320bhp though. I'd imagine being a 3 litre and not running much boost that they would be pretty damn torquey too.

Thought they were around 320 here. The reason why i ask is that i raced one about a week back and blew him. Continued to do so a couple of times until he realised what i was doing and was prepared the next time. I did find it difficult to shake him on the straights and didnt put too much distance on him (might have had something to do with that i was in 5th gear and didnt change down) but come to the bends and he couldnt hold his line at all. Not bad though. I just felt really sorry for his engine as he was really screwing it trying to catch me. One thing i did notice though and that was how torqey it was.
