Wing Mirrors Folding In...

Mate of mine is having a few issues with his wing mirrors on this Evo 9 not folding in when he depresses the button.

he tells me its like there powered by Duracell and there just about to run out?

Could it be the motor?
Relay?
Main Battery?

Advise welcome.

Either the motor is on its way out or part of the mechanism is jamming causing the motor to struggle to operate it. The mechanism is mostly cogs, all of which are metal bar one IIRC. The plastic one is held in place by a metal pin which can shift slightly due to the plastic wearing away causing the plastic cog to jam. Just strip it down and hava look. If theres no sign of wear then probably the motor on its way out. Should be able to swap it out with a working one.

shimmed mine. As said steel spindles are just lubed and slot into rebated plastic. The force/turning widens the slot over time. The cogs then rub on surrounding housing making hard work for the motor until its safety release stops the motor so it doesn't burn out.
Easier to buy but if you fancy tackling it. Dremmel the slot to fit a shim to stop shaft movement
