For sparky's. how to convert a 3 phase lift to single phase?

as title, looking at a 3 phase bradbury lift for me workshop was have been told its possible to convert a phase unit to single phase safely and correctly without the use of poxy inverters.

anyone know how this is done?

If nobody else tells you, have a look HERE

Think an inverter may be easier, or a windmill?

The father got a 3 phase 2 post lift and converted it to single phase, done with circut boards rather than traditional inverter coils. Will ask exactly what he got if he can remember next time I'm talking to him.

My ramp was a 3 phase one, went to machine mart and bought a 3hp single phase motor (approx £100) and swapped them over, then my mate changed a wire or two in the control box and it worked straight away. Had it 5 years now, and been no bother.

You might have to shufty (technical term) the controls around slightly depending on how complicated it is. But if it's just a basic d-o-l starter then it should just be a case of swapping the motor for a single phase unit.

Direct On Line Reversing (starter) - very easy on 3ph but can be a PITA on 1ph

I assume the ramp has up/down buttons
