Question Installing Cams/Bleeding Lifters?

Do you have to bleed the lifters when fitting cams? Watched this video and it would seem not http://videos.streetfire.net/video/H...-on_138721.htm But i've also read that you MUST bleed the lifters can anyone confirm?

No need to mate, just change the cams over

Release the pressure by depressing the check valve inside, as they will expand when the cams are removed.

Do i need to pump them dry or just release the pressure? Is there a special tool needed or will something like a small allen key or drill bit work?

It is best to pump them in diesel as that cleans them out a welding rod is ideal to use to unseat the check valve you could also use a small allen key if you wish

I was offered them after the mapping day at R-Spec, My car had a faulty sensor so I had to go back at some point to get the map finished.I spoke to grayw about the cams before I bought them and he was ok about mapping them in for me when i go to see him

Just out of intrest what is the reason behind bleeding the lifters? Some people do it and others dont.

They can clog up, so if you have them removed it worth giving them a clean. When the cam is removed the lifter extends to fully open, so getting it back to gether is much easier if you release them.

I read that you can somehow end up with bent valves if you dont bleed the lifters http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-eng...d-first-5.html (5th post down) Is there any truth in that??

Yes they can bend the valves if not bled especially if you are running tight piston to valve clearance
