Question Poll - What Is Your Rev Limit?

Just wondering how many folks raise their rev limits?

Just choose the limit nearest to what you've set.

If you're running 8500rpm or more, what mods have you made to the head etc to allow this?

Cheers

Rog

Yeah - Chris from Mellon Tuning's vid got me thinking: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/M...whp_210633.htm

I don't really know the exact spec of my motor and am not very keen on solid lifters etc, so just wondered what folks on here had done to keep the motor safe at higher revs...

Cheers

Is the rev limit set within the ecu? I was told that my car was OK to rev to 9000 and is fitted with Motec M800. Presumably the limit is one of the variable settings within the Motec unit

What is the configuration of your 2.4 ? Isnt 8500rpm quite high for a 2.4 from a piston speed perspective ?

Don't know, would have to ask RC Developments about that.
I remember them telling me it could rev to 9000rpm because its the same spec engine as their race cars ( that is to say all their 2.4 engines are built to the same spec, its just the level of output you ask for that depends on the peripherals used).
But I'm sure mine is set about 8500rpm.

No point revving out past the power band really. Would need a large turbo (and or massive cams) to make use of revs beyond 7.5krpm imo (again that is capacity dependant 2.0 2.2 2.3 2.4 etc)

Even if i stuck a GT35 on my 2.2 with big'ish cams i wouldn't need to go much beyond 8krpm.

checking dyno graphs might tell you where to set it,no point rev to 9k if its dropping power by 8k
