will i ever have any luck?

well, seems i've been stitched up again buying 2nd hand parts.

this time it was a £2k dog box, that had apparently been fully rebuilt BUT box was fitted and now removed and stripped, the list of broken parts that need to be replaced is longer than your arm.
Crown wheel has two teeth chipped (big chips), new required.

Output shaft drive gear badly worn, new shaft required.

5th gear

Reverse gear

5th and reverse dog ring

1st gear

1st gear dog ring

Output shaft bearings

then there was the £800 turbo rip off from evonige5.

RAAAAA

rant over!

That sucks on both accounts. Far too many rip off merchants about now.

That is terrible, any chance you can get any money back from the seller, or let me guess....they're ignoring you?

Winds me up , £2000 is a hell of a lot of money to some peopel...

its upsetting really as i'd never dream of selling something to someone without giving them a genuine description of it.

i have to give the seller benifit of doubt as he claims it was fully rebuilt my Mark Hobson of Hobson motorsport in barnsley.

so either mark hobson can't rebuild a box for toffee as there was nearly 3MM!!!! of end shaft float!!!! or seller never got it rebuilt in the 1st place.

currently i'd like to give the seller the benifit as we did have a cuppa tea and a chat and his comment of 'such a shame people in motorsport now are more than happy to rip other motorsport people off'.

that ****es me off. I like you would NEVER think of ripping someone off. While my faith in humanity is slowly dwindling i do believe there are genuine people on this board!!

Is there a receipt for the work done and date etc from Hobson motorsport you can take to them with the box for there opinion?

How much hard use had it had since the rebuild?

Seems then as long as you have a receipt to prove the work was done by them, and this strip down shows it's not been done to the described standard then you should have some comeback.

Hope you get some joy mate

let me get this straight ,you shelled out £2000 of YOUR money on a 2nd hand gearbox ,which had APPARENTLY been rebuilt ,you ve then fitted it to the your car and found out its a duff un ,and now you want to blame someone that supossibly ripped you off ,the words BUYER BEWARE cant be far off here .

im going to get LOADS OF S**T , for this but youve no one else to blame but your self ,WHY OH WHY didnt you get it appart before you handed the cash over .any HONEST bloke would have said yeah no problem if they didnt and by the looks of it the seller of this box would have had me running a mile if i said its OK

i wouldnt have even trusted a reciept, unless i was buying it from a recognised gearbox builder even then he would show you inside ,just so you are clear as to what your buying ,it may have been just rebuilt a few weeks ago ,but since then it could have done 2 or 3 gravel rallys rendering it basicly scrap untill its rebuilt again .
it only takes 10 mins ish to get it apart enough to see how screwed it clearly is
