Angry EVO's MOT - YIKES..!

Hello!!!

Just had my first MOT following a couple of Months of ownership - not too bad - complaint about front/rear plates (spacing) and also car running too rich.

Concerning running too rich - I have asked for the CAT to be put back on - do you think this will sort it out?? Reason I ask is, i get a really crap fuel consumption from the Evo7 - driving in town and without spooling up the turbo, I get about 17Mpg. I did a long journey the other day and managed an avergae (motorway driving) of about 27Mpg - this sound about normal?? The mechanic is talking about "Lamda Sensor" replacment should the CAT not sort it out? Are these expensiveand easy to install..?

Also, he tells me the driveshaft to gearbox oil seal/gasket is gone, oil all under the car - am trying to get one from Mitsy - harder than I expected.

I have delux warranty and hoping the work here is covered?

Thanks for any advice etc - appreciated!

Buckie

If you're getting 17mpg around town then your lambda sensor will be knackered and putting the cat on the car won't cure the emissions problems. It will help but not get you a pass. You can buy universal lambda sensors for about £50 but the fun part is actually getting the old one out without snapping off the threads etc...
