I've looked - and the real stuff costs 10x more than this 30ml bottle.
Why does this snail oil make me worry on so many different levels - and it's been turning up on all my google searches.

if something seems too good to be true...

but you know the detailing world also buy into bull**** and just make something that looks great to them and sell it onto us too, a while ago i bought something like this for a mobile phone screen to stop marks, it never worked...

for cheap enough money it may be worth a try in a small area :) or on neighbours car

i wouldn't use that if i was you never know whats in there have tried gtechniq c2v3 i use that on my daily and works well and wont break the bank as some ceramic coatings are ridiculous prices

Looking at that website - the C1 Crystal Lacquer is probably the ceramic coating that I was thinking about. At £42.50 for 30ml (small car) and £70 for 50ml (large car) prices have certainly come down from last year - I remember the equivalent stuff at £100-£150 for an amount suitable for a small car.

I guess that's progress, and sooner rather than later, we wont totally dismiss some Chinese copy at the prices given.

At £5.38 on ebay its worth a try surely. Most Chinese stuff is reasonable quality these days and I wouldn't dismiss it! All new technology commands a big price premium to start but with the huge automotive market in China it's no wonder they have cracked the formula. At least it's not been branded as a copy for a change.

This is the finish with the proper one

I keep seeing the cheap version and wondering if it would be any good, it certainly looks good on the advert, but I suppose reality could be far away

Does the manufacturing cost drive the price or is it recouping R&D and selling at a price the market will stand?

If the cheap stuff is a Chinese copy, they certainly won't have paid for the R&D...

Is it possible to remove this type of coating if it goes wrong?

What's the likelihood that it would damage the paint?

I'd be interested in giving it a go to see what it's like - maybe on a set of wheels.

Cheers,

Simon
