Currently as the car stands, mechanically it needs nothing. The current mileage reading is 189887, which works out to be 129k miles (clocks converted to MPH at 98k) . However, as you can see from the above, almost nothing mechanically remains from the original Evo IV - all engine, suspension, drivetrain, brakes etc are from later model Evos or upgraded .

The engine is a forged unit built by MG autos built in 2010 at a cost of £4106. The engine has only covered 16k miles in that time, and is an absolute peach. It pulls extremely hard and uses minimal oil between changes. I had MG autos remove the old Gizzmo boost controller and replace with a HKS unit which made it pull so much smoother. Power wise, we are not sure as it was last road mapped, but Matt at MG estimated it to be around 420bhp. There’s not much on a track day that will trouble it for straight line speed anyhow.

At the rear, after my rear diff exploded at Cadwell at the MLR trackday last year, I sourced a low mileage Evo 9 Super AYC diff which is apparently the strongest AYC diff available, and at the same time had Richyx from the forum refurbish my AYC pump with the upgraded billet solenoids. This was all fitted with Braided AYC hoses and bled up by Rich. With the AYC now working as it should and future proofed for the foreseeable future, the way the car puts the power down coming out of corners is quite phenomenal. The gearbox and transfer box are perfect, crunch and clunk free.

Chassis wise, I had new Meister R coilovers fitted last year, which are a nice blend of comfy enough on the roads and will harden up to give great performance on the track too. The Geo was last done at the end of 2016 by MG and the car tracks perfectly and turn in is fantastic.

The brake pads are Endless MXRS, which give an amazing balance between road and track. They are useable day to day with minimal noise and dust but really come to life with a bit of heat in them offering great performance with minimal fade. I rebuilt the front brembos last year with new hydraulic and dust seals, the rear calipers were perfect so I left them alone. I have also fitted Yokohama AD08R tyres all round, which once again offer a perfect road and track balance. The brakes and tyres have seen minimal road miles and only half a track day, and so are almost as new.

My MLR project thread documenting most of the work can be seen here –

http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=516165

The interior and body work are also in great condition. The only negative points I can think of on the car are -

Drivers Recaro bolster has some wear.
Front Splitter has some scrapes and a crack.
Small rust spec emerged below the passenger side door above the side skirts.
Front drivers side plastic arch liner past its best and rubs on full left hand lock.
Exhaust sometimes rattles against the rear ARB, needs new rubber mounts or hangers changing slightly.
Passenger front door looks to have been painted at some point, in certain lights it looks to be a different slightly shade of silver, not noticeable most of the time.

All these points are pictured below.

The underside of the car is solid with no corrosion holes etc, and the sills / chassis rails are solid. There is some usual surface rust on suspension components etc, I am not an underside polisher by any stretch but everything is solid. I’m happy to jack the car up for any potential buyer to inspect, and I’m sure MG would be happy to provide feedback on the quality of the car as they know it extremely well.

Price wise I’m looking for offers around the £8000 mark. I know this is the top end of Evo IV territory, but comparatively I don’t believe there are many Evos out there offering this much performance for so little money. Please feel free to contact me on 07432554607 if you have any enquires about the car. It is based in Brighouse West Yorkshire if you wish to come see it, but please note test drives will be done by me unless you turn up with cash and proof of fully comprehensive insurance.

The car has 8 months MOT left and it of course passed with no advisories. I'll supply the cat converter and full size front number plate to the buyer for future MOTs.

The below pictures are a combination of some taken today (19/04/17) and a few arty pics from the MLR Cadwell day last year. You’ll also see a pic of the car if you turn to the April page in your MLR Calender .

Bad points

Haha of course you can mate. Maybe all three of us should just keep passing it round amongst ourselves?

On a serious note, any prospective buyers can see from the above that this car has a long forum traceable history amongst MLR members, always nice when you can track a cars history .

I took a deposit on this but looks like it's fallen through. So, reduced to a bank holiday special price of £7250, no offers. A complete steal at this price but I really need to move it now.

Cheers
