I've done a spare TC a while ago and replaced the bolts with 12.9 bolts, 2 questions, the bolts I got were zinc coated is this an issue ? secondly I did mine up with an allen key fairly tight with loctite, is there a torque setting for these ? M8 bolts are listed as 28ft lbs not sure about tapered.

I can't remember what torque setting I did when I done mine but I used lock tight as well and I've never had a problem since

I managed to get mine apart on the drive using axle stands, I found it easier to remove the downpipe, drain gearbox and transfer case, remove both driveshafts, slide hammer out the 2 shaft's, remove the boob shaped casing and then pull out the transfer case internals which may need some wiggling and pulling to get it out (it's a little awkward to move due to doing it with little space as on axle stands but do able) . Have to say my problem was the diff as I opened it up and found I had open type so I still need to work it out, going to lube up coilovers next
