Just to give the other side of the story, I've been with Pace Ward for two years and other well known insurers couldn't even give me a quote within hundreds of pounds.

Of course, the other issue is the quality of cover. Price isn't the only thing to consider with insurance.

Admiral was cheaper so will be going with them, but just let me give you an idea of a quote I got today from Pace Ward.
Have to say they did call me back when stated and ran through the quote with me well.
Only reason staying with Admiral is I am on the multi car policy my mum has a car on there and they have combined her no claims bonus of 9 years.

Pace Ward quote

Age 27
Previous cars
Gti-R x 2, Scoob x 1, Evo 6 x 1, current Evo 6
1 non fault claim in 2008
Garaged
3,000 miles per year
Location North London
No year claims (Just to see the highest it could be)
Full UK licence 7 years.

£1700 full comp

With Admiral I am on £1183.80, but I am sure if I used my 5 years no claims with Pace Ward it would have dropped to undr £1k

Well it seems these guys have mixed reviews... i will try them for a quote near to renewal. Insurance is a personal thing and subject to status so I guess you cant judge on others experiences and quotes.

GUM.

i think it should be taken into context. Pace Ward i've never heard be advertised as the "cheapest" insurer however i have always heard of them be as the best quality policy.

I have never heard or seen anyone post with problems with pace ward paying out in the event of an accident of stuffing it into a barrier. A far cry than some of the months that have to people wait.

The MLR use Pace Ward as their official insurer because the quality of cover and pioneering insurance they offer. The MLR has worked with them for years and they have developed things like agreed values, modifications and track insurance. I can remember when these sorts of things were not available and other insurers have followed with the services they created.

Personally and speaking from experience, cost should not be the only consideration when choosing an insurer. Quality of cover and confidence in paying what is needed are far more important.

I won't name names, but I was insured with a company that gets mentioned here a lot. When I needed to claim they did nothing and didn't want to know. Jeremy and Pace Ward took up the claim and worked hard to progress it.

Agree with alot of other comments that insurance isnt always about the price its the service but even after 2 years of owning an evo PW refused to quote me still last year. Not even a rediculous qoute just completly refused. Lets see if its different this year

Keith Michaels were £900 out on when quoting me and tbh I have tried a lot of companies and only 3 would even quote me. PW get a thumbs up from me, without them I would of sold the car.

I guess your perception of which insurer is 'best' depends on why you're buying insurance:

If you are buying it primarily to satisfy the legal requirement to have insurance, then you'll probably want the cheapest.

If you are buying it primarily because you want to make sure that you'll get a decent level of service in the event of a claim, then you may not want to go with the cheapest.

Same here, which I think is a shame.

I pay alot to insure mine (when its on the road!) and I don't mind it as I love my car and accept its just one of those things due to my age (22 now) but I would much rather pay slightly more and have a better quality of policy - which I hear PW have.

Guys thanks for the positive comments and the negative ones!

We have always kept the MLR policy ahead of competition and will continue to do so!

In addition as the scheme grows we can be more competative more of the time. It has actually got to the point now, where you will see some very special offers to MLR members. One of which will be a guarntee to beat any renewal invitation from any other insurers. Unfortunately we can not do that all the time

We have had very positive meetings with a couple of underwriters only last week. These have given us more rating flexibility in house which means quicker quote turn round.
