Please tell me how much will my ROAD TAX be, please tell me???

OK so how many of these posts do we need ?

If your car was FIRSTregistered in the UK before March 2001 then you should be paying road tax based on the engine size which will mean £185 paand PLG on your log book

If your new car was First registered in the UK after 1st March 2001 and before 23 March 2006 then your car should be banded in VED bands A-F (most probably F) and should pay approx £205 pa. Logbook should show Taxation class as Petrol Car

If your car was an import registered before March 2006 then you probably got away with a PLG taxation and only pay £185....you are lucky.

If your car was first registered in the UK after 24th March 2006 and it's under 10 years of age when it was first registered in the UK then it should require and ESVA which will mean that you will pay VED based on emissions at the SVA test, probably Band G, which will cost £400pa and again the taxation class will be Petrol Car

Does it matter who pays what, the way the cars were registered was neither consistent nor correct and all that's happened is that some people get lucky and some don't...............

There's no one defined definite answer to the question of "how much is my road tax" unless all the variables are known......It's pretty bloody obvious that a 99 UK EVO 6 will pay £185.......

It's all becoming to much, something has got to give soon. There's to much tax on everything now (not just cars) and the countrys going to blow a fuse soon. I just wonder were we will in ten years time........................ everyone will be looking to work aboard to try and pay less tax

It all changes in April 09 though...

(* includes those registered before 26th March 2006)

Band: CO2 g/km : Road Tax (standard rate) : Road tax (first year only)
A Up to 100 0 0
B 101–110 20 0
C 111–120 30 0
D 121–130 90 0
E 131–140 110 115
F 141–150 120 125
G 151–160 150 155
H 161–170 175 250
I 171–180 205 300
J 181–200 260 425
K 201–225 300 550
L 226–255 415 750
M Over 255 440 950

Note the final figure in each row is a new first year only rate aimed at discouraging the purchase of high emission vehicles. This comes in from April 2010.

So most people with an Evo registered after 1st March 2001 will be paying £440 in road tax from April 2009 (£950 for the first year if you buy one after April 2010).

The Evo X 300 (manual gearbox) produces 246g/km so it will be in band L and only £415 a year (£750 for the first year).

...and for those with cars over 1549cc registered prior to 1st March 2001, the rate will be £200 per year after April 2009.

Rob
By my reckoning that puts all Evos registered in the UK after 1st March 2001 and not on a PLG classification paying £440 next year?

Read the posts more carefully.......

put your reg into the link I gave and see if your car is PLG or not. If it is PLG you are lucky and you'll stay at the cheaper rate

Right,
I've made this a sticky and from now on, any threads on car tax will just be deleted and the poster will be referred to this thread.

Not necessarily. Just look at your log book. It will either say under Taxation class, PLG or Petrol Car. Because of some dodgy registering of cars when people are trying to avoid the emissions based charges, some "Petrol Car" registered cars also have an emissions of 0g/km so the will be taxed as a PLG ( I think). A PLG registered car will have a blank under the CO2 so it can only be charged based on the engine size, ie above or below 1500cc.

If it's your EVO 3 M865 *** your talking about it doesn't apply as it's over ten years old when first registered It never needed an SVA to be registered thus no emmission value to register
