Have finally finished my steering rack conversion. It's been quite a pain in doing it but hopefully should work better than the old box. As I found info hard to find about this, if anyone else is thinking of doing this, then I can email people photos and info on what I had to do. I'm sure there are other ways but thought that I could help anyone who needs it. :smthumbup

sorry i cant post up photos at the moment, but can email them. i used a s14 200sx rack, modified the cross member, and had to weld a new spline onto my column which has been shortened. the linkage was made up to suit. im sure there are other ways of doing this, if i was doing it again i would use a LHD escort mk2 rack. as they are smaller diameter.

if anyone can pm me their email i will email photos across.

Is this to convert the LT steering box to rack & pinion?

I used a Rover SD1 rack on the 82 Galant which i believe is the same suspension/steering setup as the LT?, same PAS pipe fittings and the right length but mounted it in front of the axle line and swapped the steering arms around so the column didn't need moved. Sorry, no photos, that was 15 years ago

the components in the last picture were specially made for me, as i am using nissan 200sx front hubs and these parts would allow me to alter the steering and wishbone angles ( with spacers) to help with possible bump steer.
the centre of the subframe is standard 200sx. i had a spare engine so used that to modify the subframe.
i will try and sort out some on car pictures this weekend.
