Hi

Been to look at a few of these now but a lot of people have scoffed at it only being a v8. When I've asked them why and have they had one all they say is the V10 is better ... Well no ****e Sherlock of coarse it is but it's also nearly £20k more so I hope so
Anyone had a V8 one ? What's it like ?

A bit of a long shot on here but hey ho

All the best

They are really good cars and slowly becoming more affordable, work for a Vw/Audi specialist we see a few come in, mainly servicing and most currently one for new front shocks. Lovely to drive, only being a v8 shouldn't put you off either they sound great. Comfy inside and a great sound system too. I know of a company that will help you find one if that's what your after? They specialise In the more prestige motors.

It's got the same engine as my car and they do sound awesome. A lad I know chopped his in for an M4 recently. Great engines but prone to carbon build up. Need cleaning out every now and again. V10's are beasts bus as you say, a lot more money.

Auto is awfull. V8 is slow compared to what you are used too but the look and sound good.
Id rather have a aston v8 vantage for that money-same type of car only better looking and more refined.
R8 V10 s tronic is a beast - especially with a quicksiler exhaust fitted..

Basically this. I can't imagine who would deliberately choose a parts bin Audi over an Aston.

Tbf I'd rather have a Gallardo over the V10 too. In fact I'd rather own absolutely anything else over the R8. Daily driver? 911 Turbo. Something quick? Noble. Something good looking? Literally anything else.

I'm not sure what the R8 is supposed to provide that other cars can't.

RS6 though? No we're talking!

a couple of friend's have the v8 vesrion (in preference to the v10)
One of the car's has an Akropovic-type exhaust ....can hear it from a mile away but strangely not that loud when in it

Drop me a pm if you want to chat to either about ownership e.g. day-to-day / costs etc
Also, another friend runs an independent VW garage & looks after one of them
... can recommend him if you (do) buy one

We've had a V8 R-tronic, and a V10 Plus with S-tronic. If it's any recommendation, I'd have either again, although I'd avoid the R-tronic in future, and get a manual.

I've had a lot of daft stuff here over the years, not much stands out as something I'd have again, but the Audi's an old favourite with me.

I wouldn't bother with an Aston, hard ride, and poor performance really, and the Lambo will like as not be way more expensive to maintain properly.

The V8 Audi does a lot with the bhp it has. I saw an indicated 190mph in Crete of all places.

The V10 was pretty manic with the S-tronic, felt like a very quick car. I've just bought another house, if I hadn't, I'd be in another R8 by now.

I'm trying to remember the name of Tim Radley's company, the lad he works with is the person you need to speak to, he was Audi's development engineer on the first V10 S-tronics, really knows his stuff. Do a search for my thread last year when I was looking for one, he came on to the thread and is worth finding.

Edited to add, just looked up the thread, it's on about page 10 of this section, his username is rvfgod.
