I need some advice I'm about to change the clutch to a excedy twin plate is there any benefit changing the clutch line to braided lines I've heard people saying take the restrictor out as well but I think that's there to stop shocking the transmission cheers for any advice
I find it hard to believe, but some have reported with ACT clutches (HDSS and perhaps XTSS) that the lockout at high rpm is moderated or gone with SST line.
I think its mostly cosmetic, or if you car is Evo 1-6 it may be simple "wear-service" replacement by now.
Restrictor...must ask somebody more experienced...hopefully somebody chimes in
there is a small rubber restrictor in the clutch line, right in the banjo bolt that restricts the flow of fluid when you release the clutch... this might not be on all evos but I have seen it on all 9's.. I presume it is there to lessen the driveline shock when launching..
it protects the driveline when launching and dumping the clutch violently when shifting...
I would say that when shifting fast it will promote a bit of clutch slip and that is why I removed it..
I changed the line to braided and replaced fluid, its more precise but only a small gain tbh, its probably the fresh fluid that does it. My clutch is an exedy twin plate.
