Simon Norris can also map the flatshifts in a Sequential dog box. It is amazing. Every gear change is accompanied by a little pop from the exhaust. It sounds crazy.

Awesome to see you back out at last and smiling as you should have been for the last couple of years.

Norris can tune an engine and car properly. No guesswork and no making expensive mistakes on customers cars unlike some clowns out there

Speaking of which is it not time to change the sunstrip on the front screen?

Please keep the updates and experiences coming.

I now have time to sort out the decals LOL

I am absolutely delighted with it, my only slight concern is nothing to do with the build, but the pop the car makes in upshifts may cause me a few issues with drive by noise tests. It's a bit fruity now LOL

Yes, last Thursday at Brands Hatch GP. It didn't go well. All over by 11.30 with a split clutch hose union. On closer inspection it was the lower part where it joins the slave cylinder. There were several joins there with several different fittings, which allowed the use of a Mitsubishi pattern braided brake hose to be used. The clutch hydraulics were updated about 4 years ago by my previous tuner who fitted a magnex conversion on the master cylinder, and an Evo 9 master cylinder. It finally went on a weak spot of numerous joins. I have now had a one piece braided hose made at Merlin Motorsports to fix it properly.
So my day was ruined, I only had a few laps before my clutch pedal was on the floor. But in those laps it drove like a dream. Next track day 5th August with the MLR at Castle Combe. Hope it's better there.

It looks like the damage to the clutch was worse than I had hoped. Not just a split hose.

We bought a new custom built hose, fitted it (which was a bitch to fit as the clutch master cylinder is now hidden behind the new external wastegate). Then it was bled through.

However, the clutch would not release. When in neutral and you go to depress the clutch pedal with the engine running, you can feel a nasty pulsating on the pedal. Maybe it's a knackered release bearing, or something in the clutch itself. But the back pressure on the pedal that causes the pulsating must have forced the hose to split. So, it's turned off and that's how it is staying.

I am trying to encourage Simon Norris to get the car in to get it sorted in time for the MLR track day on the 5th August. He is very busy, and I am grovelling and snivelling and almost pleading for him to get it done in time. Otherwise, the MLR track day is off for me.

The car is currently fitted with an ACT single plate spring-centred 6 petal clutch plate. It is about 5 years old, maybe it should have been replaced at the engine build. A crystal ball would have been handy.....

Sorry to hear that... it looks like some clutch hydraulics fault of which split hose was just a symptom. How difficult would it be to change all of the hydraulics side of the clutch system?

We will let Norris Designs open it up and see what the cause is. Then take advice from there.

Evo 10, (track car) Engine Refresh

I'd stay with SN, however, clutch isn't exactly engine tuning and if SN is very busy and this would end up with you missing out on some MLR track time then perhaps somebody else could do it?

Good news on the clutch Norris Designs have found room in their tight schedule to fit me in on Wednesday for a new Exedy Twin Plate replacement clutch, if all goes well with that, I will be at Combe for the MLR trackday next Saturday.
