I used to shoot (many) years ago as a colt. Started off with a 12-bore Browning (I think, could have been a Beretta) semi-auto 7-shot converted to 5. Moved onto a 12-bore Miroku o/u which was much better. It was more of a sporting gun but was effective enough in skeet and DTL as well.

From my experience back then, I can recommend Miroku as a decent entry- / mid-level manufacturer if you're not looking to spend £thousands on a gun and if you're not specialising in a single event, a sporting gun with interchangeable chokes is a good bet. As you get better, having different guns for different disciplines is cool ... but expensive. My father had an expensive DTL specific gun (cannot for the life of me remember what it was now) but tbh, it didn't seem to be that much better at that then my Miroku and it was awful for sporting due to the fixed full & 3/4 chokes.

On a purely aesthetic note, what I liked about the Miroku was the engraving you got on the gun compared to the almost plain engravings of similar quality Brownings or Berettas. Made it feel much more special :) Looks like you have some decent engraving on your guns there though :smthumbup

I've got a licence but Unfortuantly no guns yet but use my dads, I haven't been on a game shot for years but do still shot clays.

I use either the beretta semi auto 5shot restricted to 3 or the mirkou o/u he also has a few s/s don't no the makes all 12bore and a couple of my grandfathers old hammer guns but the barrels are so thin and pitted he would never fire them

I recently came back from the states after firing my first hand gun, anyone on here a member of a pistol club?

Beretta 686e EVO for me and Beretta prevail pro sport which is the wifes.
We shoot almost every weekend. Done over 10,000 carts since December. Mostly shoot sporting but sometimes shoot skeet for a bit of fun.
Had a few lessons to start with but now shoot with some very very good shots every weekend so its like a free lesson every shoot.
Saturday we were sat having a natter and a brew with an ex Olympic shooter.:)

wtf YOU GONNA SHOOT A .50 WITH??

HOW DO YOU GET INTO RIFLE SHOOTING IN THE uk?

ye the .408 cheytac is an awesome round. would dick all over a .50, and the .375 cheytac is even better than that! the only problem is in this country we still havent got the vast arrange of reloading components for the cheytac rounds like we have for .50bmg. the handy thing with the fiftys as well is that we can just buy mil surplus rounds, so have the availability of tracers and flash on impacts too, which is very handy when were shooting at 3km lol. i buy mil surplus 5.56 for the AR15 and it saves me an absolute fortune :)

why shouldnt we discuss our hobby? i know several firearms advisors and officers, in fact ive just text one and told him what youve put and he thinks you're just being daft. so thats what our "FSO's" think. there are several active uk shooting forums, id of thought something would have been done about them if it was frowned upon.

with how easily illegal firearms are to obtain why would somebody go to the trouble of stealing ours? anyway, who's to say that the guns are kept at the same persons address ;). mine are held at several different address's.

It depends on how you worded your text, like something along the lines of, "oh, there's this guy chatting poo on the Internet about us talking about our guns, and he reckons its right dodgy" or something along those lines.

Tell you what, get your pal to open an account on here so we can discuss this further?

I don't think there is any problem with talking about guns at all, it's all quite healthy stuff, but as I've already said, posting up pictures of your arsenal isn't the brightest of things to do. I can liken it to going into a pub and flaunting it to all and sundry. It's not to difficult to imagine someone of the sketchy persuasion to think, hmm, might just take a gander me self at mateys goods whilst they're not at home. Does happen.

Successive governments have basically disarmed the population because of a handful of incidents as tragic as they've been; if you want to lose the little that you have right now or jump through even smaller hoops, dont be surprised when you get folks like me going 'told ya so'.

Are you aware of the procedures that you have to go through in order to be allowed to keep guns? Trust me they niggle at every little thing to ensure the security of them. Which they should. If the persons house wasnt extremely difficult to get into they wouldnt be allowed them. Then there's the cabinets they have to be kept in etc. Trust me, stealing legally owned guns in this country is not an easy task! I myself have never heard of it happening before apart from one imbecile who left his shotgun on his unlocked cars back seat one night!

A couple years ago a friend of mine died, i went with a mate of mine who is a firearms dealer to take his guns as his wife wasnt approved to keep them. It took me and my mate a long time to get into them, we used grinders and all sorts. I think if someone tried stealing them theyd have died of old age first!
