Yesterday Richard (gtr owner), Phil (boss milltek), Jon, Adie, Tom, Steve and myself headed to Bedford for 1st shake down of RM TA GT-R (other than a couple runs at soaking wet marham 194mph top speed).

A few laps throughout the day were purely to get the GT-R checked for issues, test new Dixcel brakes and initial check of KW suspension which needs set up. Pretty cold & windy day, lots tire slip (shot r888's had seen better days) even on 1bar and mild throttle running 1.19's. The 19" w/ R6's couldn't be used due to bad fit. Good feedback on what needs to be done.

In between checking logs, i managed to grab a couple shots of the day (i have no expertise in cameras or cutting)

I have to agree, if someone beats 2nd by 20% he should get put in pro never mind up 1 class

I just dont get why people would want to go in a lower class than they really should be....where's the competition.

I'm going in pro this year....I got rid of my p-zeros and then realised that I would need ****e tyres if I enter club pro in case it gets called a 'wet' race
I have slicks and wets...so that's the easier option and since I'm not doing the full year I'd rather just go as fast as I can and have fun.

And, if by some miracle I find an extra zillion horse power, learn to drive and go super fast and beat you all...that would be pretty cool! lol

This TA gets more of a joke by the day.
Just had a quick look at Plips entry list, and out of over 30 confirmed runners only 12 have signed up for the full series all the rest are OHW doing 1 or a few rounds, some say they may do 3/4,this obviously with the spiralling costs and current climate individuals just cant pay out up front for the full series in one go.
I know obviously this list is only a small part of it but it shows how the trend is going.
i was involved in some of the discussions re; the Ohw's not getting recognition and being rewarded for ones efforts, and eventually the organisers have taken on board and patronisingly awarding a trophy but still no points or overall position.
So the Guys that have signed for the full series, stop moaning that a OHW... 'which is a stupid patronising name anyway'.... may come in and upset your little comfy 3 way battle, as looks like without them it would be a very depleted series.
This is why all along iv'e said that if you enter 1/3 or 5 rounds you should still have you name up there on the day and overall.
Also this three strikes and you put up a class is a farce as most runners wont even reach that amount, and look at some of the cars entering club, full on race cars with 600 plus, wind tunnel aero packs etc, its a joke, egotistic pot hunters.

So before someone kicks off at me for sticking my two pence in, since 2009 ive always aspired to hopefully enter some TA and when i decide to do something i do my best to achieve it.
Sadly my business was hit hard the last 2 years so finances have delayed my plans but also of late i am finding more and more reasons not to bother anyway.

So just to clarify things, and I'm not having a dig, just intrigued.

You've never entered the series and appear not to want to.

You say that entry fees for the whole season have to be paid upfront.
"3. Competitor Fees - Budget Plan B – Five Payments
Deposit payable by 15/03/2012 with Payment 1 (of 5) commencing 01/05/2012 and then the 1st of each month"
(From the TA entry form).

OHW's were seen as a way of dipping your toe in the water and seeing if you liked it, they now are eligible for trophies (as people suggested) but it appears you also want points as well, taking places off competitors commiting to the whole series.
You also find the term OHW degrading?

The three strikes rule is a farce. So how would you police who was in which class then, including OHW's?

Lack of entries, which you have researched by only using the people posting on this forum...oh dear.

As I've been involved with this series for a few years I feel able to comment that the drivers who enter are a terrific bunch and generally have a great time enjoying the day, whether they are at the top of the results, or somewhat lower down.
TA has so few protests that they must have got most things right, and do listen to what the competitors say, and from the entries I've seen it should be a terrific season.

Let me just say i think TA is a great uncomplicated way to get into Motorsport and i do know some of the competitors, past and present, and iv'e supported a fair few events only as a spectator though, and as mentioned in my post i did intend to compete at some stage but now i'm not so sure.

Ok sorry re the entry fees i got that wrong.
But as for only using this forum as an example of entries, well there are 33 on the list and only 12 are signed up for the full series, that must say something and as for OHW a way of dipping their toe most i think are Ta veterans.
Just curious, but wonder what the largest entry list was at any given round last season?
Also yes if some Driver gets a faster time than a driver doing the hole series well good on him, he's paid his fees so is just as worthy as the next guy,
in my opinion.
If it was me he beat i would say fair play and say i must try harder next time.

Yes i do find the term OHW wrongly applied in this instance, and yes i can understand the three strike rule is a tough one to police re; the cars/drivers performance, but come on some of these cars shouldn't be in club from the get-go, and as most of the entries are only doing a few rounds then why not make it a one strike rule and your up to the next class

At the end of the day club class is for club type cars, an easy affordable way to get into a form of Motorsport, no Ards licence required, no roll cage compulsory, no external cut outs required etc.
Some of these cars entering club have been stripped and built from the shell up.
I would respect and accept anyone competing on fairly level terms and taking points away from me irrelevant of how many rounds they do.
What i wouldn't think fair was to have a full on race car with 600/700 hp trouncing me every week in my modified road car.

Chris has a mega car :lol:

I was gona say just that Kenny but i thought would keep it under my belt as Combe sprint is a Favourite of mine more track orientated with faster corners:D
Also as you mentioned swapping cars:thumbup: if it proves a point.

Cool:smthumbup

Think we need to leave this TA thread now, leave the sprint banter for the right section
