I had a wee chat with Glen and the outcome was this:
Pro Tuner class - full slick
Pro classes - Trofeo
Club Class - Corsa (ie: this years control tyre).
Judging by the people I spoke to as well at the last round, this seemed to be a major step in the right direction.
Although at this stage I must stress this is still work in progress, and Glen is working with Pirelli to get the numbers available for us to use. So this may change, so watch this space.
just got the email, its open tyres then, run what you want in pro and above classes but as i read it slicks and the wet variant have to be the same supplier, so you would have to run for example avon slicks and wets but you couldnt run avon slick and michelin wet which seems a little strange but hey its a step forward:smthumbup
also open tyres (from 1a & 1b regs) in other classes but slicks are not allowed.
should be a interesting year, i havent read the rules yet but i wondered if tyre warmers will be banned because if there not i can see a few people going out and buying them.
I know what they are thinking here. They think 1a can dissipate water better as they are no a semi slick.
They obviously haven't heard of tyre cutters, nor the fact semi slicks are way better than 1a tyres even when it's wet through but no standing water.
Make me laugh Not all 1b tyres are semi slick. Toyo R1R for example. Even more annoying is people have to buy 1a tyres now just in case it rains. Otherwise they will be sat watching whilst others are flying round on their ditchfinders.
Good call:smthumbup:crackup::rucrazy:
It should read something like:
5.13.7 If a wet session is announced, semi slicks must not be used.

Bearing in mind that Club Pro runners will be on 1b tyres and Pro runners on slicks, will these groups run in separate sessions or together ie as in 2011?
Hi Phil,
Yes they will be running together, disparities will not be an issue as the lap times and speeds although different between the cars and classes will not be as wide a void as with some existing other championships / series's I know of, the guys will be more than able to work with each other on-track as they have done over previous years where lap times and speed disparities have been common place - and will always be.......in no matter what motorsport.
The joint slick and 1b class integration has also been approved by the MSA.
this should be interesting if there going to run together (slicks and non slick), i can see on tight curcuits some people (on slicks) not being very happy after being held up in the corners with the non slick runners as i would have thought the slick tyre should be quite a lot quicker in the twisty bits, but also on the other hand the cars running toyo r888 the tyres will heat up faster so the slick shod cars might hold up the other runners in the early part of the session until slicks have fully heated up. its going to be very interesting.
Had rear arches rolled but front are standard wings, what is the widest i can go on tyres/wheels was thinks 10inch rim with 265 width tyre but never run that wide a set up before
if your after dunlop tyres give this company a try. ive just ordered a brand new set of dunlop slicks today at under a grand including vat and deliverly:smthumbup
Were using a different route - 240 640 -18 fronts, 270 650 - 18 rears.... Just happen to come in lots of compounds, slick and wet, and just happen to be lots out there if you look.
Being the current control tyre for Carrera cup and also ginetta challenge. Our first set to test on which are not that bad were £40.00 for 4. (We do have other tyres lol, but these will do for the moment.)
You will find the Supercup tyres very hard for a one lap flyer but they are cheap, FYI this years cup tyres are even harder in compound, we have been testing in the run up to Brands this weekend and they last for ever
