As you say mainly road use then Michelin SuperSport is better allrounder than the AD08, which while a great tyre in the dry isnt great in the wet and MPSS will be better, same with the MPS4 which is pretty much a MPSS with slightly better round manners.
They are both different tyres. The Michelin SuperSport is a good every day tire for the street with the occasional track day in mind. The Yokohama AD08R is a more serious street legal track day tire with higher levels of dry grip. In actual fact the ADO8R is very decent in the wet.
Have AD08R on my Evo and have driven PSS on BMW's. The AD08R and AD08 are a different kettle of fish in the rain. The new compound is much better in the wet to the point where I would say that the AD08R is a great tire on wet roads barring standing water. The main difference between AD08R and PSS is the stiffness of the sidewall, the AD08R being much stiffer more like a motorsport tire. One issue with the AD08R is that to my knowledge it does not tolerate sub-zero temperatures. So the tire is not usable in cold temperatures and needs to be stored in a heated environment, similar to true R compounds which it isn't. So if you want to have a road tire that tolerates some motorsport use that wears well and only drive when it is warm outside go Yokohama. The PSS does not steer quite as well, does not tolerate heat as well, but is more comfortable, usable year around and better in standing water. So for an only car PSS all the way .... just don't expect it to be useful on snow.
Some interesting posts on this thread. My X came with AD08 tyres and they are now close to the wear indicators. I've been happy with them on the whole but they aren't great in the wet. Not sure if thats also down to the tread levels mind.
Car is used daily for commuting etc but will be used for the odd trackday and hoon. Struggling to decide between the Pilot Super Sport or the AD08R. Seems the AD08R are better than my AD08 in the wet but the Pilot Super Sport are even better. However in the dry the AD08R are better.
Not sure what the latest is with the MLR group buy either. Hmm

You have to base your decision on what the car is used for a majority of the time and the Pilot Super sports sound like the best compromise imo. I'm going to consider them also.
I've just done a full winter on ad08r's and apart from one morning where I struggled to actually get moving on a virtually flat icy surface I can't think of any other complaints. I usually use winter tyres in the winter too so I was expecting them to be awful.
On a FWD car too so probably more noticeable than something with 4 driven wheels.
Yokohama sponsor Chelsea Football Team  So it makes sense :mhihi:
I have Ad08r and cant fault them. As for Chelsea :shake:
I don't know why I am being cheeky as I follow ManU :wallbang:
