Here is the 12th edition of the MLR trackday at SPA FRANCORCHAMPS

The main piece: The Spa track day :

In 2017 the trackday will happen on Monday 29th May and Tuesday 30th May. That's right, like in 2015 and 2016 a double whammy for this 12th edition! 2 days of solid fun!

The format is exactly what you'd expect from an MLR trackday; open pit lane, free professional instruction, tyre support and trackside photography. We're also aiming to be able to offer paddock support so niggly little problems won't stop you enjoying the day.

Unlike last year, this year we are unable to swallow the track rental cost increase coupled with the even bigger GBP drop in the exchange rate, so we had to review our 2017 prices. These are significantly more expensive than in 2016 in GBP terms but if you look at the equivalent price in EUR terms, the currency in which we have to pay pretty much all of the cost (track, marshals, ambulance, recovery truck, briefing rooms, ...), the MLR member price in 2016 was £299.00 at 1.4€/£ => €418.00, the 2017 price of £359.00 at 1.15€/£ => €412.00. We're still offering the 5% and 10% discounts for group bookings - see below for these savings. I do not have a crystal ball so I cannot guess where the exchange rate will be in 6 months or even in 12 months when the Brexit process is started, at least for now the pound is still above euro parity but one thing is for sure, next year like every year for the last 10 years, the track rental cost will increase ... in euros no matter what the exchange rate will be so do not delay your trip to Spa, 2017 might be the last affordable year.

The MLR member price for 1 day (Monday or Tuesday) is £359.00 and the non MLR member price is £399.00.

The MLR member price for both days (Monday and Tuesday combo) is only £688.00 and the non MLR member price is £765.00. Yes this is already a 5% discount no matter what!

Days can be booked through the MLR Shop (will be open later today) until the day is full, so please book as soon as possible as this is a popular event! To avoid any pitlane delays we are limiting the number of cars to the same level as last year, so places are limited!

Just as last year we are keeping the group discount (5% Monday, 10% Tuesday, 10% Monday & Tuesday) for bookings of 5 or more full places at this Spa trackday (not "additional" drivers nor passengers nor garages …). This can include a maximum of one MLR member and 4 (or more) friends / non-members.

e.g. Monday only (5%): 1 x £341.00 (member) and 4 x £379.00 (non-members).

e.g. Tuesday only (10%): 1 x £323.00 (member) and 4 x £359.00 (non-members).

e.g. Monday and Tuesday: 1 x £619.00 (member) and 4 x £688.00 (non-members).

Discounted bookings can only be paid for by calling the MLR direct on 08451 25 26 23 and must be paid in full at the time of booking.

Slicks are allowed, filming is allowed if the camera is mounted safely, only 1 passenger is allowed and in the front seat only. Timing is not allowed and any bad/dangerous driving will result in that driver being banned from taking any further part in the day, and without refund.

Please note that as for the previous editions, this day is not restricted to Mitsubishi cars - all cars and drivers are welcome.

Additional charges on the Day :

We have done our best to keep the extras at the same prices as in 2016.

Garages: £200.00, Maximum 4 cars allowed (this is one F1 garage door), pre booking is possible for people who already fully paid their day. Contact Greg on spa@destexhe.com.

If you want a garage but do not find 3 other drivers to share with we can book you a ¼ garage for one car at the price of £60.00 and we will group you with other drivers in a shared garage.

Additional drivers: £50
Passengers: £20
Helmet Hire: £20 with £50 deposit

Lunch: Catering is available at the track restaurant

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ THIS:

Just as last year (and for the years to come!) the circuit does have a problem with noise and they are working with the locals and the government to come to a satisfactory agreement for everyone, starting with trying to spread the noisy days throughout the weeks.

- you must ensure your car runs under 107dBA (this is not a goal but the ultimate maximum allowed, all drivers should aim to run the quietest possible setup)
- if you are unsure get it checked at a circuit or using a noise meter readily available on the web (Spa test is: 1m at 45deg and at 3/4 rev range), but please note this does not guarantee your car will pass on the day
- if you have a side exit exhaust, take it off and run a quieter system
- do not remove any removable silencers

The Spa noise limit is 107dBA static measured 1m from exhaust, 45 degrees and ¾ RPM AND 103dBA drive-by measured 15m from the track centre axis.

If you have any concerns or questions about your car please email or PM Darin or Greg, but please note it is YOUR responsibility to ensure your car is UNDER the permitted noise limit and if you are black flagged for being too loud and not allowed to re-enter the track we are not able to give a refund

The MLR day at Spa is also a social event, 2 nights - 2 dinners:

We will host a 3-course dinner on Monday night (at the track restaurant) and another one on Tuesday night (in the village centre), this is the opportunity to unwind with fellow car enthusiasts around a good meal. If you booked your accommodation with us then you are already registered and paid for for these events. If you haven't booked your accommodation with us you can still join the dinners (£40.00 per person per dinner), contact Greg for details spa@destexhe.com

The Nürburgring:

In 2017, there will be a race at the ring the week-end before our event ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race

At this stage the 2017 Ring calendar is not yet available but it is very likely that the ring will be opened for Tourist laps after our event.

I very much doubt this is on a bank holiday Monday and doubt even more on a sunny end of May day! March and Novembre are very nice days in Belgium too ... if you don't mind the risk of snow LOL

I know what we are offering and I know what the other trackday organisers are offering too at similar time of year and yet we are cheaper.

Horses for courses.

Its on the 3rd of april...
You run the same risk of rain in april and may aswell.
Thats everywhere.. just remember this year where there was so much rain on monday that most people left already in the afternoon. People on tuesday got Lucky!
Weather in spa is always a gamble

I don't want to bash other people's effort, and this is the wrong place for such a discussion but to close the topic.
1) The price you mention is a short time promotion, the regular price is much higher
2) The track is cheaper to rent until the end of April and there is a reason for this, not long ago the track cancelled a trackday on the 22nd of April ... for snow!
3) The very same operator runs a day later in the year and the price that they charge is very close to our member pricing (actually more expensive on their Tuesday!) ... and still not on a bank holiday Monday

The MLR pricing is on the cheaper end of the market no matter what you seem to think or suggest. Have a look at the pricing from european operators who work in euros and haven't modified their euro pricing because of the weak pound, their 2017 pricing is slightly more expensive than their 2016 euro pricing because the track increased, our MLR pricing has gone down in euro terms as explained above!

Enough said.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention because we are not working with them neither are we affiliated with them! Darin will contact them straight away.

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" so don't settle for a pale copy and book the real thing on the MLR shop :)

Generally yes, usually from around 5-7pm ish depending what else has been on during day....we stayed for whole week after trackday last year with intention of a few evening sessions at nurburg but due to one thing and another we only managed one, weather was dire unfortunately, but on plus side was much quieter than a weekend though :)

Id much rather do the ring on the Sunday then Spa mon/tue then home rather than having to stay another day doing nothing waiting for the Ring to open at night!! I dont know if this was possible but finding a Monday for Spa when the ring is free on the sunday would be much better!!! Just my opinion

Bridge to gantry have race dates for the ring on there website , n24 24-28th may . Used to do the ring then MLR trip to spa but as last year will be the other way round. Weather at ring was terrible last year but got on every evening having all dry laps then all day on the Saturday . Found something to do each day to fill time . Roll on next year !!
